Spring's Bounty [Tagged & Open]

White paws traipsed lazily over the tall grasses on the Hunting Plains. The form that moved between the grasses was brown and purple in color and, upon closer inspection, could be seen as a wolf. The wolf was female with bright, green eyes that looked all around; up at the sky, down at the ground, straight out into the plains. The she wolf was looking for something, something to eat.

Coria had been trotting along for what seemed like quite a time to find some suitable food. She decided to try her luck at the Hunting Plains as she'd never actually hunted prey there before. The plains were lush with fresh, spring grass and were sure to attract a lot of plant eating mammals. Perhaps Coria could snag a fawn or baby sheep now that it was spring. She allowed her mind to wander and began to salivate at the thought of the wonderful bounty she'd be able to find on the plains. The only problem was that she was alone. She had not wanted to bring her friend Trick and risk him getting injured and she couldn't bring Calamity as he was somewhere in the mountains. Maybe there would be someone friendly around to help her out?

Long, sldender legs propelled an equally slender boy across the grassy plain below. The long golden blades grazed at his underbelly and threatened to tickle at his sensitive spots, but Tag was too focused to notice today. His newfound companion had entrusted him to acquire the good for their small group, and he would be damned if he'd let him down. This whole team thing might have been new to him, but Tagrian felt fairly assured that failing at the one job you were given was not a good way to start. 

So here he was, off to the hunting plains in order to fulfill his mission. The idea of catching a nice, big prize excited the young male, for he was eager to display to his friend how competent of a hunter he was. Hopefully that could make up for his other failings, he hoped. As he approached the plains though, Tag began to slow and raised his russet head to test the air. The smell of prey was abundant, but there was also another not so noticeable scent: wolf.

The boy stopped altogether as a dark outline became visible off in the distance. Part of him wanted to bolt for fear of a hostile stranger, but he pushed this thought aside and approached the other wolf. As he got closer, more features became apparent. The it was now a she, and instead of being black like he had thought, she was actually a dark brown with lavender markings. Pausing several feet away, the tall male stopped and hailed the girl. "It's a-a nice day for a hunt!" The lack of conviction he had hoped to portray irked him, but there was no helping it so he continued. "I don't wanna intrude or anything, so if you want I can leave?"

Coria's green eyes scanned the plains looking for any sign of life but she saw none. This was her first experience hunting out here so perhaps all the animals were hidden within the tall grass or a thicket of trees? Suddenly her ear caught a sound and she looked to her right to see a wolf a respectable distance away. She blushed immediately, embarrassed that she'd been discovered and sneaked up on but responded nonetheless. "Yes it is quite a nice day! Please don't leave..." The she wolf considered walking towards the stranger but stopped and thought better of it. What if the wolf was dangerous? He didn't seem to be, in fact he seemed almost as lost as she was. "Umm...I'm Coria." she said, unable to think of anything better to say. She cast furtive glances now and then at the stranger but kept her eyes mostly trained anywhere else but directly at him. Coria was horrible with introductions and even worse at keeping up conversations but she didn't want to chase this wolf off, he might be able to help her.

Remus had lagged quite a bit behind Tagrian, since he did not want to disturb his hunting. Rem had never been particularly good at hunting, but he always seemed to get the job done; if he hadn't, he would have never survived this long. Continuing to follow Tagrian's trail, he soon emerged at a field, tall grass dominating the ground. Just managing to be able to peer over it, he caught site of his friend talking to another wolf. Knowing that the russet male would never hang around a hostile wolf for a while, he made his way to join him and meet the stranger wolf. So far, it seemed that this territory was full of new wolves to meet.
Padding up alongside, Tagrain, he introduced himself after he heard the new wolf's name. "Goodday, Coria, I'm Remus."
He gave a small nod, feeling slightly awkward to enter mid-conversation.

Tagrian gazed at the female with a loose smile on his face. He didn't want to scare her any, that wouldn't be any good, but he also didn't want to look like a grinning fool. His relaxed stance and disarming manners would have to do. Anyways, she seemed as uncomfortable at this as he was. This thought encouraged Tag to relax a little and take a few tentative steps closer. "I'm Tagrian. It's nice to meet you Coria." He replied pleasantly. His green eyes suddenly shot away toward another figure he saw approaching. 

"Welcome to the party." Tag greeted Remus cheerily, grinning at his recent friend. Unexpectedly, the auburn boy bounced on his toes and glanced from wolf to wolf. "Hey! How about we all hunt together? We can do a lot more with our combined efforts." The male's tenor vocals were excited and hopeful as he waited for his company's response to his suggestion.

The wolf before her seemed to relax a little bit and greeted her, telling her his name was Tagrian. He certainly seemed nice enough and Coria hadn't had any particulary bad experiences with wolves in the area so perhaps he was trustworhty. Just then Coria turned towards a new wolf that was approaching, seemingly one who was familiar with Tagrian. It became apparent quite quickly that the two were friends and the new wolf introduced himself as Remus. Both seemed like very nice wolves.

A wide smile spread over Coria's dark brown maw at the mention of hunting together. She couldn't believe the luck she'd had to find two willing hunting partners so quickly. Normally Coria would have been wary of the fact that the two males may only be using her to take down the prey and then chase her off as soon as it was brought down, but she didn't get any uncomfortable vibes from either wolf. "It is nice to meet you Remus." she said with a nod towards the new wolf. "I would actually be happy to assist you both in taking down some prey...now just to find some.." The brown wolf trailed off, looking out onto the plains for something to hunt.

.::Rabbits are out of their warrens, feeding on the fresh spring grass. Some have been tempted by the clover, straying further away from the safety of their holes than they normally would.::.

"Well now that that's settled!" The boy began, a wolfish grin cast at each member of the small company. The male stretched himself up to his full, somewhat impressive height. Long legs was all that Tag really had going for him and he used them well. "Finding 'em is the easy part." He added to the side, now thoroughly distracted in his search for prey. His muzzle was raised high, testing the air and his bright green eyes dodged about warily on the lookout for movement. "It's the catching that can get ya." The words were said as the russet wolf's body quickly lowered to the earth in a practiced hunting crouch. From the look of things, Tagrian had found himself a target and he shared this knowledge with Remus and Coria by gesturing with his snout in the direction of the prey. "There's some rabbits a ways over there. Should we try and circle them?"

Coria looked in the direction of the rabbits, noticing that some of them were straying towards the fresh clover. She began to stretch her legs and shoulders to ready her body for the chase. The brown she wolf wasn't the fastest wolf, she was more muscle than anything, but she could maneuver well and get some of those rabbits. "Those rabbits look like they'll make a tasty meal." she said to her companions. "We should go for it. Maybe we could circle around the rabbits that aren't as close to the warren and cut them off from any escape routes?" Coria questioned.

Remus had failed to notice the rabbits, until the others began plotting on how to catch them. Finally he would have some dinner, and if the trio could pull it off, an extremely big one. Rem hadn't tasted rabbit in a long time; it was a much missed taste. "Sounds good to me. I'll take the far side; hold your tails up when you're ready, and then we will attack simultaneously when we each show that we are ready. That okay?" Remus asked; he didn't want to seem bossy. There was no way that he was qualified to try leading a hunt, unless food wasn't an actual priority. In  this case though, it was.

(Ooc)I'll be away for about two weeks without internet (I'll be active when I return! xD)But when I do get back, i'd like to pull Rem from this thread, its rather.... inactive.
With any luck, it'll be winter here when I get back. ;P
