Dark Sparkle -
The water cascaded of the cliff, forming a cloud of thick mist at the base where it hit the jagged rocks that lay at the foot of it. The mist was steamy and humid, when it was breathed in it made you nose feel blocked. And when you walked though it it seemed to be thicker than normal air and not as easy to walk though. After catching herself a fish further down stream Dark Sparkle trotted towards the base of the cliff were the fog formed. She knew of a secret place tucked away in a cave behind the cascading wall of water. She liked the steam, it cleared her head, she was just slim enough to get through without getting her coat too wet.
She settled down at the far end of the cave were condensation had made the cave walls moist, and tiny dew droplets traveled down engraved claw marks. Dark Sparkle looked straight ahead at the water fall that shut out the outside world. Rays of sun light seemed to flicker through and reflect onto random patches in the cave. She groomed her purple and black coat a bit before starting on her fish. She looked down at her dinner and saw a reflection of her sparkle covered eyes gleaming back at her, she hadnt eaten in awhile. She had been looking after her mother so much resently she had conpletely forgot about her self. But now her mother has gone. As she looked deeper into her eyes she heard her mothers last words echo in her head,
* "promise me Spakle" her mother said
"promise you what mother?" Dark Sparkle replied
"Promise me-"
"I promise mother.." Dark Sparkle said, tears welling up in her eyes as she lay her mothers head down on the grass *
Dark Sparkle banished the memory and pushed the fish aside. She lay down on the cool stone floor, the rhymic flowing and crashing of water seemed to sound like a soft lullaby. Her eyelids got heavier. The sound of the water blocked out most other noises. She could feel herself drifting of to sleep, when she heard a loud crack. She shot staight up and priked her ears forward, 'what could that be?' She thought to herself.
