Whispers Echo against the Rocks (Whisper/Tear In My Heart)

Echolette led the way to Rocky Outcrop. She walked fast, wanting to find a den before it got dark. Every now and then she glanced over he shoulder to see if Wisp was still following her.

Eventually, she saw the oddly shaped rocks before her and let out a sigh of relief. It wasn't too dark yet. They had time to find something suitable. She turned to face Wisp, smiling slightly.

He hurried behind her, lanky legs not taking him anywhere too quickly. Whisper smiled at Echolette and began to pad toward dens. Nosing around leaves, he searched for any rocks that had locked together for a den. He sighed, not having much luck. Most were too small or too low.

She was further ahead than him and her luck was a little better but not by much. She let out a huff of quiet air before running forwards a few meters and searching some more. Eventually she came across a decenr sized are for a den. The rocks formed an opening which lead to a cave; they could dig a little to make it even better.

She barked at Wisp, calling out that she'd found one.

He lifted his head, hearing her call. Wisp turned and jumped next to her. "Lucky find!" He acknowledged and poked her with his maw. Wisp stepped inside, scraping at the walls and pushing the fallen dirt towards the entry way.

She nodded, helping him dig. Echolette kept an ear open for any danger.

He took a step back from their newly dug den and looked at their work. Wisp smiled and looked at Echo,"I think we did a good job. Now to push out all the dirt we spilled on the floor."He suggested. To started he scooped dirt outside the entrance.

She helped him to manoeuvre the dirt from inside the den before settling down inside. It didn't take very long, luckily, and there was still a little time until nightfall. She stretched out on her side with her paw draped across her muzzle and her yellow eyes peering at Wisp.

He shook his paws, dirt falling to the floor. Whisper stepped inside beside Echo and laid down. She was his warmth in the night, and he found comfort in that. With a blink of his own orange eyes, he returned her gaze. As night fell, less and less of his appearance was visible. It looked like white speckles with disconnected orange eyes.

Her white fur glowed softly against the faint light of the rising moon. She blinked slowly before yawning and closing her eyes. Mumbling quietly, she slipped into sleep.

"Goodnight, Wisp."

He buried his head in her shoulder fur. Soft and warm. Closing his eyes, Wisp fell into a gentle slumber. He spoke gently, as he didn't want to ruin her rest. With a yawn he said, "Good night…"

Whisper awoke in the morning. Echo was asleep and he left the forest. Never to be seen again. Not by Echo at least.

Echo woke up alone. She looked around her cave before frowning, eats drooping. A short howl left her throat before she walked away, not wanting to stay in the new den.
