A half gray, half black wolf made his way to the border. He was older, maybe 5 or 6. His name was Dark Side, and, despite his size (he was larger then the average wolf, but only by a few inches) he was getting to old to hunt for his mate and 8 year old mother. He had once had two pups to help him, but they had left that spring. Dark Side also knew that Good wolves had to stick together. Two more wolves wouldn't be a issue. Dark Side had a few scars, but he wasn't a fighter. He looked back at his mate, Katrina. He loved her more then life, more then anything. He looked at the border, and waited. They would howl together.

Katrina limped slightly, her once limber legs aching with arthritis. She could go see White Magic for her ailments, but she wasn't one to go asking for compassion all willy nilly. Yet here she was, beside her mate Darkside at the Eternal Snowfall border. The two of them had quickly lost their ability if effortless hunting. They now struggled to keep up with many creatures. If they were to live out the rest of their days with full bellies and peace, then this was the place to be.

The white female nodded at her mate as she stood by his side. She raised her muzzle to the sky and begun to howl. Her voice was old and frail, yet had an edge to it. She closed her wild turquoise and gold eyes, the swirl around her eye socket grey instead of youthful black.

Piala:

Two howls curved through the sky to reach alert white ears. The alphess raised her head as the sound of voices winded to an end. The howls were rough and aged, searching for safety. Piala hauled herself to her paws with a somewhat relaxed yawn. She’d been resting on the border of the copse that morning as the howls had echoed through the territory. Duty called.

The alphess trotted towards the border. She tried to keep her gait loose since her limbs had been aching recently. Piala knew she wasn’t a young wolf, but she was strong enough to keep her pack going. She quickly spotted the two shapes of wolves on the border as she approached. She flashed a friendly smile the moment she could pick out the color of their eyes. ”Hello!” Piala called as she paused a couple feet away from the couple, ”What brings you two the border of Eternal Snowfall?”

Dark Side howled with his mate, Katrina. He stopped when Katrina did, and spotted Piala. "We have come to find a place to live out our days." Dark Side said. Half of his face was a little lopsided, as if he couldn't quite control that side. It was a old scar, from when he was younger. He had pawed it, smaked it, even pricked it. It was a scar from electricity, when he had bitten a wolf as the wolf had charged it's fur with electricity. That wolf had left him with this, and now it had returned. Katrina, however, was showing the signs of age less then him.

Katrina raised her slim head to scan the Alphess. She was beautiful and old. Not haggard with age, but she had a certain wise aura around her. She looked like a goddess, gliding through her domain, guarding her subjects like a benevolent queen. Like how Katrina was supposed to guard her pups. Sadness filled her eyes as she thought about her two beautiful girls. She was sad that they had left, but she knew that they would be fine. "Yes, a home. Nothing more or less. I trust you provide such niceties?" Trina spoke, expression soft. Her teal eyes focused and intense. Her fur was a gleaming white the once black swirl around her eye was no longer plainly visible. The pattern could in rly be scrutinized in the shadows. But for now she looked not unlike the great shewolves that dwelled on the mountains. Katrina swished her bushy tail anxiously. She hated waiting.

Piala:

Piala smiled at the two elders. Looking at the two older wolves, she felt her own years weighing on her. She realized that her faithful paws could fail her soon as all wolves experienced as they aged. Her inner thoughts of age and the oncoming possibility of death brought on a new and very important question, What would happen to Eternal Snowfall? If, no, when she finally breathed her last, would Eternal Snowfall be ready to continue on without her as Alpha. She needed an heir.

Her mind returned to the two newcomers. ”Of course. I would be thrilled to welcome you into Eternal Snowfall and provide you with the shelter you seek. I suppose you share the good alliance?”
