Blood drenched the
ground in what could be seen as a blurry mess. Eyes as bright as the sun glowed
in the darkness, burrowing into his soul. He could feel the panic, the helplessness
within himself as a distortion of glowing white charged him. There was a feeling
that he was shouting something, but no sound was heard. He tried to move
without success, he tried to do anything he could to just get out of the way,
but his body wasn’t listening; or was it his mind? So, he closed his eyes and
braced himself for an impact that never came. It felt like years before he opened
his eyes, something telling him he shouldn’t, that he wouldn’t like what he
found. Curiosity got the best of him, it did every time, and stared at the
sight before him. Tibarn….. Tibarn lying motionless on the forest floor with a fatal
gash through the throat. Then he felt it, a gooey liquid dribbling down his
mouth and splashing on the grassy land in a muffled splash noise. Finally, his
body responded, his legs very carefully leading him over to the gruesome murder
of who was once his best friend. Stopping just shy of a foot away, he looked on
and into the dull, dead yellow eyes. He felt sick.
Jerking out of his resting state, Crow gasped in panicked
breaths as he quickly scanned the land around him as if he’d find that bloody
mess again. Noticing nothing out of place from when he first arrived, the black
wolf stood up in more of a rush than normal. Shaking out his pelt, orbs gave
one last stare before he wandered over to the water source. Bright blue stared
into the crystal clear pool of fresh water, his reflection stared back almost
mockingly. It showed him the reminders of his days with his old friend, it
showed him what he lost, what he took. With a sneer he batted at the
water with his front paw, watching as the water rippled in his effort. His
reflection becoming nothing but a black smudge in the once perfect water.
Crow stared a while longer as the water settled back within
himself, as his reflection once again became clear. This time, he growled with
newly found rage, so in a last-ditch effort to rid himself of his own picture
he lifted his paw and slammed it into the water. It was too bad he didn’t realize
it was a drop-off, it was too bad it wasn’t shallow. With the most manliness
yelp you’ve probably ever heard; Crow stumbled into the pool of refreshingly
cool water. It quite a shock to his system that he could have done something so
utterly stupid, he almost wanted to let himself drown for that stupidity.
Luckily, he doesn’t feel like dying anytime soon and quickly swam back up to
the surface once he got his bearings. Crow broke the surface with a gasp that was swiftly followed by several coughs.
Without the normal elegance he typically portrays while
swimming, he splashes blindly to the water’s edge. Both front paws slapped on
dry land while claws dug in to keep him there. His sputtering and coughing continued
for a couple more minutes until it was nothing but easy, if not slightly
hoarse, breathing. His big form just stayed relaxed in the water for a few more
minutes before he made the effort to drag his large body out of the water. With
a few choice swears, a couple more dunks in the water, and muddy paws, Crow was
once again on dry land. In a huff, he shook off the water that was weighing
down his pelt before he ungracefully flopped to the ground. His body demanding
to be lazy after such activities. So, he rolled to his side, not caring that
his coat was still dripping wet, or that the ground underneath him was starting
to become soggy with mud and he was probably getting rather dirty. Maaa, he’ll
dunk back in the water later, for now, he’ll cloud watch.
