Dawn was slowly breaking, swallowing up the star filled sky in its powder Grey blanket. At this hour Azrael was usually still happily curled up in the underbrush fast asleep. Yet, something has disrupted his sweet slumbering surrender. It started with the crude cries of a crow. Kaw, Kaw, Kaw. Over and over, until the lupus was sure his head was starting to spin.
Angry he took to all fours leisurely making his way to the culprit perched on a low hanging branch. Not quite low enough to reach, but Azrael was betting he could scare it off. Pesky winged rat. Once he reached the large pine tree's base Azrael coiled his muscles, leaping high into the air snapping his jaws just underneath the branch it rested on. The hollow clicking of teeth rang out. It was enough to startle the bird, who flew away in a panic shedding a lone raven feather.
Unfortunately Azrael was now fully awake. He pulled those vibrant greens shut tight, inhaling deeply before exhaling slowly. Despite vanquishing his foe Azrael's blood was still simmering with anger, it pulled at his jaws; tingled inside his teeth. He wanted to sink those canines deep into flesh. To release the anger that was surging over him. Never has he awoken before the sun was up and he, well rested.
With one last deep breath the lupus set off into the unknown. The forest was silent as he crossed through, not a hare, bird, nor rodent stirred. He found it unsettling. Through the silence a gurgling sound erupted; cutesy of his gut. Bright green hues danced around the low lit woods pausing on a small figure in the distance. Curiosity caught the best of him and Azrael found himself stalking closer with carefully placed paws to retain the silence that clung to these woods.
As he approached, closer now Azrael noted that it was a fawn. Those toxic eyes cast side to side, looking for its mother. After a moment, deciding she wasn't around Azrael sprang; it was a bad move. The fawns mother busted in out of nowhere- at least, from what he processed and started trying to clock the wolf one with her sharp hooves. The wolf jumped back just in time, trying to work his way around the mother to get at the babe. But it only made her fume with more rage. Before Azrael knew what was going on he was running for his life, mother in tow; completely unaware that he was running up on another wolf until the last second. "HIDE SHE'S CRAZY!" he screamed, barreling into the bushes trying to take the stranger with him. Azrael was no angel, but he also wouldn't want to wish the wrath of a mother on anyone.
