Zamir couldn't help but frown at the reminder of Epsilon's upcoming punishment for his rescue. His ears flinched back slightly, but he made sure to push a smile onto his small face when he looked up at the large male. "Yes... I won't keep you long," he reassured, keeping that smile wide until he was sure at least some of it was real. In truth, he was worried for his new friend, terrified of what he could have gotten him into. Epsilon was his savior and his only friend so far, and the last thing he wanted was for him to be brought to harm. But he understood that the Alphess meant well—in fact, she was being far kinder toward Epsilon than the Alpha of his old pack would have ever been. Accepting an outsider, regardless of age, into the pack borders would have meant a harsh punishment and even banishment depending on their rank. It was a sad fate, and many wolves were left dying on the outskirts of their territory due to his Alpha's lack of care.
The image of his new leader's face flashed through Zamir's mind. While he knew that she would not do anything too drastic, he calculated her size the moment he had met her, and he knew that she was very capable of causing a lot of damage to a wolf. By the words she and spoken toward Epsilon as well, it was clear that she had loyal followers and he was sure that it wouldn't take much convincing for them to help if she needed any ridding a wolf from the pack. This idea scared him and made him reluctant to let Epsilon leave his side. Not to mention the fact that no other wolf knew he was new to the pack and if anyone else saw him, in his mind it was likely that he could be killed as an intruder. It was only Epsilon's jaws on his scruff that shocked him back to attention.
Zamir looked up at Epsilon when he was lifted to his paws, allowing the male a few steps ahead before waddling awkwardly after him. "It is quite hard to walk with this, Epsilon," he told the male with a soft chuckle. He tried his best to move slowly so he would not hurt himself again, but Epsilon reached the den too fast for his taste, as it left him behind. Sticking his tongue out his mouth for a second, he walked a bit faster. By the time he made it to the den entrance, he was panting softly, but his eyes were sparkling with pride and his tail was wagging happily. "Just wait, Epsilon! If you think I'm fast now, just watch! I chased rabbits and foxes back at home, Epsilon, and I'm really fast! I'm the run, and I may talk a lot, and I'm not strong, but I can run really fast! And I'm not even bragging, Epsilon. Even one of my brothers, even though he was scolded by Father for saying so, told me that I was fast! And Mother asked me to run and fetch her things sometimes! She was pretty weak, so I was usually her only company in the den, and when she needed something, I would go run and get it for her. I'm the fastest!"
