The songs of Angels and the Valkyrie

Valkyrie;

The ruins seemed peaceful quiet to the young pup. Her gold eyes that had fleck of bright blue looked around the small crevice ,in some pile of rubble, that was her den. She had been there for a almost a month. The small pup snow white head poked out of it. The den was only big enough for just her. Almost a month ago her mother had left her to survive on her own. The words she said still pierced her small heart at the harshness of her mother's voice as she had told her she didn't want or need her and that she hoped something bad happened to her. In some weird ways it made the she pup want to survive on her own and that was what she was trying to do. She refused to perish in the cold of the winter that hit hard on where she made her home. Figuring the small she pup would have to scavenge for food soon she got to her paws and moved forward. The snow pushing through her fluffy pup fur. Valkyrie gave a small sneeze sending snow flying. Shaking her small body she jumped through the snow that weighed her down her golden and silver and blue markings were the only thing visible on her.

Angelika;

Angelika had been wandering again. This time she found herself in the Ruins, which was blanketed in snow. She wondered at what they must've been before they were
crumbled and worn down by weather and time, and what kind of creatures might have built them. The she-wolf watched with her one blue eye as her breath became like a small white cloud, if only for a moment. She looked around. The snow was mostly undisturbed, save for her own fresh prints. There were a few dips in the snow that could've once been pawprints, but the gray wolf was confident she was alone in the ruins, at least this section. She yawned.

As she was waking, she kept a lookout for prey. The freckled she-wolf was hungry, and these stones looked like the perfect place for mice and other small prey. Angelika did not, however, see the small white head poking out of the snow until a fluffy little she-pup popped out of the snow right in front of her. "Woah!" She yelped. "Wow, hi. I did not see you there."

Then she looked at the pup a little closer. "Are you alone?" She asked skeptically. The little wolf was certainly interesting to look at. She had a strange silver design on her forehead with a blue marking in the center and golden wing-like patterns on her flanks that seemed to glow. Angelika cocked her head and sat down.

Valkyrie;

Valkyrie was still hopping as the snow weighed the poor she pup down. As it did she started to push her way through the snow and at the last second lifted her small white body up to jump when she was taken off gaurd by the she wolf in front of her. She yelped falling back into the snow. Shaking herself she suppressed a shiver as she sat up poking her head up through the blanket of snow. Her white ears flattened nervously as she looked up at the new wolf in front of her"hi...."She said quietly"I couldn't see you "She said. Valkyrie was quiet for a long moment as she asked if she was alone. Determined to say she was but scared something bad would happen if she did,she lied."No I'm not alone my mommy's around here somewhere"She said puffing up her fluffy chest. It was an obvious lie with how hungry little Valkyrie looked but she wasn't going to admit her mother abandoned her."besides why do you wanna know"She asked not really rude but more curious

Angelika;

Angelika watched as the she-pup tried to jump from the small space between the rock and rubble until she saw and heard the gray wolf. Then the young wolf looked up at the one-eyed she-wolf with her big blue eyes. "Hi...." The little pup said, so quietly that Angelika had to lean in towards her. "I couldn't see you "

The white-pawed female watched the hungry-looking pup thought for a moment. "No I'm not alone my mommy's around here somewhere" Angelika could tell the she-pup was lying. No mother with an ounce of love for her offspring would let the little one starve like this. "Besides why do you wanna know" The little one sounded almost curious.

Angelika looked at the white, silver, blue and gold pup with a mixture of pity and understanding. "Look, kid, I know you're alone." She said. The red white and black feather in the fur of her neck caught her one good eye and her throat tightened. She remembered being in this pup's position, alone and scared and hungry. She looked back at the little one, hungry and cold. She didn't want her to feel like that anymore.

"Here, how 'bout I help you out of there, then we go find something to eat, alright?" She asked in her best talking-to-pups voice.

Valkyrie;

The white she pup with the almost glowing golden wing design stopped and looked up at the she wolf before her seeing the pity shine in her ears and she flattened her fluffy white ears"yeah...w..well I..i don't need anyone even if my momma left me here alone...ive survived this far on my own"Valkyrie said stubbornly"besides I can catch my own food those little creatures d ont see me"She piped up. The poor 8 month old pup was hungry and with all the snow that had shown up she couldn't find an ounce of food. She wouldn't admit that it would be nice to find warmth and eat warm food. The thought of it made the she pup sway a bit or maybe it was the cold. Despite her stubborn nature she couldn't stand not eating again because she couldn't find food"fi...fine I...i guess"She said

The she-pup flattened her ears. "Yeah...w..well I..i don't need anyone even if my momma left me here alone...I've survived this far on my own. Besides I can catch my own food those little creatures don't see me." She said defensively. She seemed hard set on not accepting any help.

So the little one's mother had abandoned her. How cruel. Angelika could imagine that the pup felt terribly lonely and unloved, without a mother that care enough to take care of her until she was old enough to fend for herself. The one-eyed she-wolf felt a small trickle of rage toward the heartless creature that had abandoned such a young pup in winter. She was surprised at feeling such an unnecessary emotion.

The cold wind blew and the little white fluffball swayed on her paws. "Fi...fine I...I guess" She said, finally accepting Angelika's help. So the light gray female leaned over and gently lifted the pup to where she sat. The pup was light, but that was to be expected due to her recent lack of food, and her strange markings seemed to glow, the snow reflecting their shine.

"So, kid," Angelika said, looking down at the fluffy pup. "What do you know about hunting?" The pup had said that she could hunt on her own, but the freckled wolf did not know how well. She briefly thought of the amount of time it had taken her to learn how to hunt properly, and she did not think that this pup had been alone that long.

Valkyrie:

Valkyrie seemed to tense up as she picked her up but she didn't mind the small bit if warmth she felt as she was set back down next to the she wolf. She didn't really know her name but she was grateful on the inside for the warmth offered to her let alone the help. "I only know a little bit...only what I could figure out"She said quietly her tail flicked back and forth before she moved closer to Angelika wanting to be warm. "I...can catch this thing called a mouse I think sometimes but I have to dig for them sometimes"She said quietly curling in on herself to keep the heat she was taking in.

The blue-eyed ball of fluff curled up by Angelika's side, obviously trying to keep warm.

The adult wolf realized that the pup was too cold to be any help hunting while so cold. "Well let's come back to hunting. I think that we should find a den. We can hunt after we've got a certain spot to come back to, what do you think?" Said Angelika. She really hoped that she and the pup could find a good place to warm up and maybe call home for a few days as soon as possible. As beautiful winter was, the one-eyed she-wolf knew all too well its deadly power and did not want to be caught in the middle of anything dangerous.

The freckled wolf looked down at the pup. There were a good deal of things that were missing today, answers mostly, but there was one detail in particular that was not present. Angelika did not know this pup's name. She did not know how she could've forgotten such an important thing as the pup's name, but she supposed that the circumstances gave her enough of an excuse, she was more concerned about the pup's safety than her name. "By the way," She started, trying to sound casual. "My name is Angelika. What's yours?"

Valkyrie;

The pup lifted her head ever so slightly and looked up at Angelika."so...w..we are going to wait to hunt?"She asked almost a small whimper but she couldn't do much else so no other complaint escaped the she pup."ok...but I don't think my den...eould work"She squeaked knowing it was too small for both of them. She hoped they could find a den so she could warm up. The cold seeped deeper into her fur but she stayed as close as she could to Angelika."i..its nice to meet you...my name's Valkyrie "She said quietly.

The she-pup looked up at Angelika. "So...w..we are going to wait to hunt?" She asked in a small, whimpering voice.

Angelika hoped she was making the right choice, getting the pup to warmth and safety before finding food. "Yeah, we need a place to be safe and warm." Reasoned the gray wolf. She knew that the fluffy pup was hungry, but she didn't want her to freeze to death first.

"Okay...but I don't think my den...would work" Squeaked the pup with the silver and blue facial markings.

Angelika chuckled a little in spite of herself. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll need a bigger den than that." Said the she-wolf with the one blue eye, looking down at the she-pup close to her side.

"I..it's nice to meet you...my name's Valkyrie." Said the pup, her voice quiet.

"Valkyrie." Said Angelika, the strange name rolling off her tongue. "I've never heard a name like that before." On some level, Valkyrie reminded her of someone, but she did not know who.

The gray female's ear flicked as she heard crows cawing in the distance. Her head turned as the noise grew. Perhaps there's something worth checking out over there. She thought. "C'mon, Valkyrie. Let's find a den and then we can go see if those crows have found some food." Said the white-pawed wolf. She began walking towards a pile of rubble that looked like it might make good shelter, looking over her shoulder to be sure the pup was following her.

Valkyrie:

"What but I'm hungry"The white she pup whined. She uncurled herself and moved her cold limbs her belly giving a small growl. She needed food it was why she was outside but she couldn't argue with an older wolf as much as she wanted to but that didn't mean she couldn't try."well my name is unique...at least I think it is. I wouldn't be able to ask my momma"She said quietly almost as if it hurt to talk about the she wolf who abandoned her to the cold. She looked around for a moment"can't we find food real quick please"she said bit followed her. She hopped in the snow as it was thick to the small pup.

"What but I'm hungry!" Protested the pup when Angelika began toward the rubble.

"Now, Valkyrie," Said Angelika, turning to the shivering pup. "We need shelter first. If we find food first, we'll have to drag it around while we look for a den. Besides, if there's a storm, we'd be able to survive in a cave better then without. So, c'mon. Continued the one-eyed wolf. She was trying her best to be patient with the hungry pup, but she had little experience with other wolves, let alone pups.

"Well my name is unique...at least I think it is. I wouldn't be able to ask my momma" Said Valyrie. Angelika could see the pain in the pup's gold-and-blue eyes, and it broke her heart. One so young should not know such sorrow, as she herself had.

The light gray young adult wrapped the pup in her white-tipped tail. "I'm sorry, kid. You shouldn't have to deal with this." She said. Then she stood up and began to walk again. She did not look back at the intricately marked she-pup, and she blinked a couple times before calling over her shoulder "Come on, we need to find a shelter.", hating how harsh her voice sounded.


"Can't we find food real quick please?" Asked the white she-pup. Obviously her grief had not dulled her appetite.

"We will find food as soon as we find a den, I promise." Angelika said. The freckled female looked back to be sure that Valkyrie was following her. She chuckled at the sight of the pup, who was hopping along to stay above the snow. "Would you like me to carry you? It would make this a lot faster."

Valkyrie seemed the blink before a small whine escaped the small white pup with the unique markings."Ok...i.guess but I'm so sooooo hungry"She whined."we can't catch a small rabbit or a mouse maybe"She asked pleading. Hunger tore through the young she pup. Though she stopped next to her looking up at her with her gold blue eyes. She then looked down as she wrapped her tail around her and told her she shouldn't have to deal with what she was. It wasn't until they moved again that she began hopping through the snow."sure I guess I want to be carried"she said tired hungry and now exhausted.
