Sytytin waited patiently as Lydia pulled her head out of the small den. ”How are they?” he asked. ”Your she-wolf’s weak, but all four pups are healthy. Three girls; one boy.” Lydia stated, matter-of-factly. ”I’m excited to have four little pup servants doing my bidding,” Sytytin chuckled. Lydia’s eyes narrowed, ”You intend them to be your servants.””Why not? The dame is mine, after all.””And the sire is mine. It would be fairer if we each got two.””You said Calypso was weak. What am I supposed to do with two newborn pups and a weak she-wolf, while you have the same and more with that powered male?! I should get them all!” Sytytin liked the idea of having many servants. That seemed fair enough to him ”Perhaps we should just give them all to the Alphas and be done with it!”Sytytin’s growl cut off as he thought of something, ”Would the Alphas be upset that pups were born on Midnight Silence soil without their permission?” It was something he should’ve considered far earlier. It might be too late, already. ”They’re servants. They put no strain on the pack by having pups, only themselves. Perhaps, we should give them to the Alphas just to be safe, though… Some of those scraps of theirs did a decent job at their rituals. We can say the servant pups are gifts.””Alright, but I still want one.”Fine. Only one, since your she-wolf is so frail.” The wolves exchanged nods, finally having come to an agreement. Striken huddled in the small space with Calypso and their four gorgeous newborn pups. He could feel her fluttering heartbeat as she was pressed up next to him. Her shoulders heaved as she panted with exhaustion. Striken pinned his ears as he overheard those monsters discussing his pups as if they were pieces of elk to be distributed. How could they be so cruel… The last thing Striken wanted for his children was to be forced into servitude, but there seemed to be no escaping it. Everything felt hopeless. The rhythm of Calypso breaths changed and Striken looked to see tears pouring down her face as she sobbed. ”They’re talking about our babies up there,” she whispered, hoarsely, ”I don’t want anything to happen to them.””I’ll protect them,” Striken promised. Calypso scoffed, ”Don’t make promises you can’t keep. If you pull anything, they’ll just kill them faster.” Striken winced and looked away. She was right. Calypso’s quavering voice was softer when she spoke again, ”We should name them…””What’s the use? They’ll just rename them, like they renamed me.””You’ll always be Striken to me, no matter what awful name Lydia calls you,” she licked his cheek. ”Just like Soca,” she nudged the grey pup with a soft, sad smile, ”will always be Soca.”Striken returned her sad smile and nudged the light bluish one, ”Gynne…” then he touched the dark violet female, ”and Ciren.””Otti,” Calypso named their little boy, last. A new feeling of hope started to bloom in Striken as he looked at their newly named pups. They could still rebel in small ways like naming their own pups. That feeling was quashed somewhat as the two voices outside approached, ”-suppose you can take your pick now if you really want to. I would wait until right before we present them to the Alphas.” It was Lydia. Striken bristled at the sound of her voice. Sytytin’s head popped into the den and Striken glared at him as the Evil wolf examined, the pups with hungry eyes. ”That one,” Sytytin touched Soca, the largest pup of the litter. Lydia, who was peering over the large male’s shoulder, nodded, ”Good, we should report our intentions to the Alphas. Caeth, you’ll come, too.” The pack member pulled away from the den and Striken sighed as he extracted himself from Calypso. She touched him with her nose before he slipped from the den. ”What a pretty little servant she’ll make,” Sytytin was saying as Caeth padded towards the two wolves sitting a small distance from the den. ”Have you thought of what you’ll call her?” Lydia inquired, distrustful eyes flicking to Striken as he approached. ”Something simple, I think. Perhaps something that compliments my own name like Tinn.””Her name’s Soca.” Both heads swiveled to face Caeth as he growled. ”Caeth! Hold your tongue, you mangy mistake or a wolf,” Lydia snarled. Sytytin’s expression was thoughtful, ”I do like that… Soca… yeah, it’ll do.””You’d let them name her?!” Lydia growled, turning on Sytytin. ”No, I just like it, so I’m keeping it. If I didn’t, I’d change it.”Lydia huffed and faced Caeth again, ”You still spoke out of turn, Caeth. You know that I’ll-“ Lydia’s ear rotated as it caught a noise, ”Someone approaches.” Lydia turned and her eyes scanned the sparse landscape. They latched on an indistinct shape in the shade of a nearby boulder. ”Stop lurking in the shadows, Li. What do you want?”

Li;
The dark furred male slowly walked out of the shade, not because Lydia told him what to do, it's because he wanted to. "You're telling me what to do?" he said with a snicker "I dare not waste anytime... And I'll go straight to the point." Li slowly approached Lydia and stood only a few feet away from her "I need an eye.. From a powered wolf..." he glanced at Caeth, with a small grin to his maw. His black teeth absorbing light yet not reflecting it, Li twitched his ears and looked at Lydia again "And I'll need an eye for Geist..." Li awaited for the female's reply.
Li's eyes twitched, thinking why he even had to get an eye from a good wolf, why couldn't it be neutral? At least that way he would feel just a little better about himself, dang it Albus! You just had to be good, did you!?
The male eyed Sytytin, curious as to why Lydia was even yelling in the first place, Li opened his mouth to ask, but he decided not to; he wasn't here for that.
Li spoke sternly "Next time I'd like to be in the shadows, which is why I need your servants eye!" he grinned again "Besides, doesn't he deserve to be punished for speaking out of turn?" Li raised a brow, his tail swaying slowly as he could just feel that power just around the corner.
Li would most likely never get an eye from a good wolf again after this, he just hated thinking about it, would he like it if someone took Albus' eye? Of course not! But Li needed to be strong, show that he had no remorse for the poor servant. It was going to be hard, but being the son of Mayan taught him to feel little remorse to anyone, with the exception of his family of course.

Lydia scowled at Li. Why did he always have to remind her that he was a rank higher?! That fact frustrated Lydia. She’d be a member of this pack far longer than Li and the Gamma at that. After Acribus’s defeat, she’d expected that she’d ascend to fill the position, but instead, Fjord had promoted this newcomer. Li wasn’t so special. He didn’t even have a power like Lydia! Apparently, he was here to remedy that. It seemed he was attempting to follow in Nyx’s footsteps by chasing shadows. Nyx used to have many of the pack members’ respect. It’d been a shame to lose such a powerful shadow master like her. As Li suggested it, Lydia shared a glance with Syt then they both looked at Striken. It was tempting to refuse Li’s request, phrased so demanding as it was, but he would probably go whining to Fjord or Skia if she said ‘no’ outright. Lydia couldn’t be sure that they would side with her and she didn’t want to get on either Alphas’ bad side. Those two could be as Besides, Caeth needed some punishment. The lesson to only speak when spoken to was not sinking in no matter how many times Lydia struck him. Losing an eye shouldn’t affect his performance too much… ”Caeth, you’ve crossed me one too many times. I never want to hear your voice unless I ask you something,” Lydia turned to Li, ”Take it.”It took Striken a second to realize exactly what Li was talking about. Was he serious? An eye?! Both Lydia and Sytytin looked at Striken. A shiver ran down his back. It wasn’t just any eye, Li wanted his. Striken stepped away from the shadowy male. Lydia seemed to actually be considering it. She wouldn’t really let Li render her servant half-blind, would she? Lydia piercing voice vinerated through the air, sealing his punishment. Striken stumble away, shaking his head. They couldn’t force him to comply. If they wanted his eye, they’d have to fight him for it. ”Sytytin,” Lydia leaned toward him, her cold eyes, still on Striken, ”Would you mind terribly if I killed one of our little scraps to get Caeth back in line?””As long as it’s not mine,” Sytytin chuckled, darkly. Striken stepped in front of the den, ”No!” He flinched as Lydia snarled at him and pushed past her servant. There was a surprised cry from Calypso as Lydia ducked into the den. There were sounds of a scuffle. Lydia emmerged with Calypso’s tail in her jaws. Calypso limped as she scarmbled to keep on her feet. Calypso was carrying a tiny dark form, protectively. Striken squared his jaw. ”Fine,” he turned to Li, and planted his feet. He stared at the Beta with hatred. Li was another wolf attempting, vicariously, to hurt Striken’s family. Striken would take the fall for them over and over.

Li;
His expression went blank after Lydia told him he could take her servant's eye, it was sort of surprising to him, he would've at least expected her arguing or something down the line. Li straightened himself as he got prepared to take Striken's eye, but then Lydia said something to Syt. Li cocked a brow as the female entered the den, he heard a sudden cry which made Li take a step back, there was another wolf inside?
But then when Lydia exited the den she had another female's tail in her mouth, oh no, was she Striken's mate!?
Li's eyes widen for a brief second before shaking his head "Why?" he mumbled to himself. But the worst part was Striken's mate had a little pup in her mouth, newborns!? This had to be the worst day of Li's life!
Li looked at Striken, he looked at him with hatred in his eyes... It's not like Li wanted to do this... But then again he always has the choice to just stop right now and let them be... But not have a power. Maybe if Li didn't have a brother he cares about this wouldn't be so hard for him, but alas, he has Albus.
Li turned away, facing his back to everyone and growled quietly to himself. He was trying to let his evil kick in so that he won't feel remorse, Li shook his head aggressively before slowly approaching Striken and whispering quietly so that only Striken could hear "Don't hate me... Hate yourself, for it is not my fault that you decided to have a family." Li glanced at the other wolves before continuing to whisper "See? It's like I always say... Familys get in your way, and now you have to live knowing that your family's life is in jeopardy every time you screw up." Li then slowly backs away, he was tempted to say "I really didn't want to do this, I would never want to do this." but he had to show no pity for the servant. Li looked around and spotted a stick, the male then picks it up and looks at at Striken, he was going to do it, he was going to take the poor servant's eye out... All for a power.
Li growled, thinking about the pain Striken would feel is just almost haunting. Li took two steps towards Striken and prepared himself to stab his eye.

Striken squared his shoulders, bracing himself. He could bare this. The eye-snatcher whispered to him and Striken felt like growling. ”Don’t you think I know that? I can’t change the past and I can’t see the future” Striken would’ve never subjected his family to this life. If he’d known that Calypso would pulled around by the tail whenever he showed the slightest tinge of rebellion, if he’d known that his pups would have to grow up serving selfish Evil wolves, if he’d known that he would had to condemn five Good pups to death in order to protect them, Striken would’ve stayed far away from Calypso. He would’ve just been that miserable, withdrawn male whose only purpose was to survive for the rest of his days if it meant he could save Calypso and their pups from this nightmare. Striken would also lose an eye for them. As the evil wolves’ eyes fixed on Striken and Li, Calypso carefully replaced Ciren among her siblings. Then the female whipped around to see Li advancing on Striken. Calypso’s eyes flicked between Striken and Li, trying to fully grasp the situation. She’d only caught snatches of the conversation from inside the den, but from what she could tell, Li was about to take Striken’s eye. Calypso was having none of that. Calypso barrelled into Li with all her strength, which wasn’t much right then, but it should be enough to put the male off-balance. Calypso scrambled to her feet and got in Striken’s face. ”What are you doing?” she hissed. ”I… They’re going to hurt you, hurt Ciren.” Striken tried to explain. ”You can’t keep throwing away your life and the lives of others for me! Didn’t you see what happened to Rhul and her siblings?! You had a role in that! I would’ve preferred to die before letting them kill those pups.””I can’t watch them hurt you…””Then don’t, but I’m not letting you get hurt again because of your stupid self-sacrificing tendencies. I want to protect you just as much as you want to protect me,” Calypso stood between Striken and Li, ”Take mine instead.” The white power mark over her eye was like a target; the bullseye was exactly where Li’s stick should jab. Sytytin growled as Calypso shoved her way into the situation. He glanced at Lydia, wondering whether she’d care much if Li took Calypso’s eye rather than Caeth’s. Lydia shrugged. Of course she wouldn’t care. Hurting Calypso usually hurt Caeth as much or more than if you hurt him directly. So the decision of whether to not to allow this fell to Syt. Did he really care that much if Calypso lost an eye? He was usually laxer with Calypso than Lydia was with Striken, but it still displeased him that she insisted on interrupting. Perhaps letting her lose an eye like she wanted would discourage her from putting herself in situations like this in the future. Sytytin nodded at Li. It was a shame that Calypso’s pretty little face would be marred, but Syt had her daughter as a backup, now. Plus, Soca wouldn’t be weighed down with a protective mate like Calypso was. He noticed Lydia as she slid between Caeth and his mate, so the protective male wouldn’t try to stop the eye-poking.

Li;
Suddenly, someone bumped into Li, it made him lose his balance. The huge male glared at Calypso but didn't say a word, yeah he deserved that... And maybe even more.
Li watched as the mated pair conversated, or argued. Li shook his head barely in a disappointing manner "Ahh I feel so bad for this guy... Now he has to watch his mate get her eye stabbed... What a shame, what a shame. Too bad I won't know the feeling of a mate's love for awhile." he thought before glancing at Sytytin.
Li honestly didn't want to hurt someone's mate, and a mother at that, what was he, a monster?
Li looked down to his paws and hesitated to poke Calypso's eye out. No, he was showing weakness, there is no time for weakness! The male growled furiously and tried to think of something that wouldn't make him feel so bad about poking her eye out. "Come on, Li, think of something.... Don't hesitate to stab her eye out!" he thought "I must not show weakness! I gotta take her eye!" he continued to growl, the anger he was feeling started to make him feel less pity for the female. "It's not like I'm taking Albus' eye! It's just some wolf who is a servant to a pack!"
"It's not Albus! They'll never do this to Albus! I won't let them! And I swear on my life if they lay their filthy paws on him I'll stab their eyes out! Like this!" He looked at his victim with hatred in his dark eyes before aiming at her eye.
Li struck hard, not realizing he stabbed poor Calypso until it was too late. It had been only two seconds before he finally pulled back, while the stick was in his mouth. Li looked at the now half blind female, he was so close to frowning and whispering "I'm sorry." but no, he's not going to do that, not now. Li then glanced at her mate, he could just see the horror in his eyes. Li had to move though, and fast. Li nodded to Lydia and Sytyin "My job here is done..." and with that, Li stormed out with the eye. He noticed it started to crystallize as he went. Now all Li had to do was return this eye to Geist, and maybe then he will finally control the shadows.

Calypso’s lime green eyes looked straight forward, meeting Li’s eyes as he gripped the stick. Striken desperately called her name, but she ignored it. Calypso refused to blink as the end of the stick due nearer and she stared down its length. Suddenly, it jolted forward. She reflexively activated her power and flinched as her eye flared with pain. Calypso couldn’t hold back a yelp. Every second with that stick in her socket felt like an eternity, then it was out and Calypso squeezed her eyes shut. Her eyelids were suddenly forced open as crystals grew out of the eye socket Li had jabbed. Calypso blinked her good eye as she caught sight of the lime-colored eyeball on the end of the stick. Around the puncture, tiny crystals had started to sprout on the eyeball before it was pulled free. Calypso turned back to her den. She met Striken’s gaze as Lydia released him. Apparently, she’d needed to restrain him to keep him from stopping Li. They probably didn’t want to deal with the two arguing over whose eye would be taken. One switch was enough. It was done now. Striken rushed to her, tears wet his cheeks. ”Calypso, your… eye… does it hurt? Are you okay?” He hesitantly touched the tip of the crystals over her eye socket with his nose. ”Of course it hurts, but not as much as it would without my crystals.” Calypso leaned into him, exhausted once again. Adrenaline had driven her, the urge to save Striken from harm, but it was over now and Calypso just wanted to sleep. Striken escorted her back to the den. It was a strange experience to be missing an eye. Calypso expected that there would be blackness covering her missing eye, but there was no eye to see the blackness. Her vision just felt shorter. She kept having to turn her head to see things that she felt like she should be seeing anyway. Calypso slid into the den and collapsed beside her four, whimpering pups. Striken paused just outside, probably shooting a final glare at the departing Li, before joining her in the cramped space. The den felt colder than it should and Calypso shivered, feeling a tightness in her throat as she did. A cough rose, trying to banish it, but in vain. Calypso scooted closer to Striken, careful not to poke him with her crystallized socket. -End Thread-
