Bush stalked around, looking for prey. The young adult was hungry and needed food. Her bright green stripes didn't help when it was still winter. She would have to run instead of stalking, her favorite. She saw a steep hill and started to climb it to help her see the plains better. She got to the top, looking down on the bright, white snow. The light reflecting off the snow felt blinding, but her eyes adjusted, letting her see the options for prey down below. She scanned the fields, looking for anything easy to snag, just not anything already dead. (This is an unmodded hunt for now, just chasing down simple prey like rabbits.)

Rato;
There was a cold chill to the air, one which Rato wasn't excited to face. It had to be near the middle of the dead season that was called winter, and it was obvious. The plains were more barren than the small male would've hoped, and each blade of grass seemed to frosted over. The sun was weak and hiding behind a veil of clouds. Yay winter.
Rato was laying on a rock, which was also cold. It made him very moody. Well, who says he isn't always moody. It's a personality trait, if anything. But he was more moody than usual. He rested his head on his paws and yawned. Winter wasn't only cold, but it was tiring. And barren. Have I already said that?
He was going to actually get up and look for breakfast when another scent filtered through his nose. He looked around, searching for the source. It was a wolf, no doubt. Rato craned his head around him for a while, before finding a brown-and-green girl around the same age as him. He narrowed his eyes and called out a brusque "Oi!", most likely scaring away the small prey in the area. He didn't really give a dime. He stayed on his rock, jutting out of the hill the girl was standing on. It was the only part of the plains that wasn't covered in the iridescent snow. He worked hard to clear the rock for laying on, and he won't give it up that easily.

Bush looked down at the male, an annoyed look on her face. Now she would have to go and find another place to hunt because of the noise this rude wolf made! She slid down from the hill and gracefully sprinted to another part in the hunting fields without saying a word.
She eventually stopped on a rock and scanned the new place. It was flat and open with few trees or hills. If that male comes again and scares off all the prey again, he'll be dead! She thought to herself, her eyes narrow as she kept scanning the flat land.

Rato;
The girl gave him an annoyed glance and sashayed off like she owns the place. Two can play at that game, girlie. Rato slowly rose from his little rock and started after her. What's the harm in wanting to hunt with her? They could take down a bigger prey, unless they don't tear each other apart in the process.
He gave a final glance back towards his little rock. It was a nice rock, really. Warm from his body heat, right in the weak rays of sunlight. But the small boy was hungry. He wasn't the nicest person in the world when he's hungry. He prance up and down through the snow, slowly catching up to the girl.
She really went a ways away from the brown and blue man. Listen, he knew he was annoying, but not annoying enough to where one leaves without a words. This time, the girl landed swiftly on a rock, with the scrawny boy trailing her. He didn't make as much noise, save a step or two. Really, it wasn't his fault. The girl is standing in the open where prey can see her from a mile away. He gave her a weird look. "If you're gonna hunt like that, then you might as well howl as loud as you can." He remarked slyly. She can chose to run away again, but Rato won't let her leave. He's aching for food, and needs someone to terrorize. It was just Bush's unlucky day.

"Have you seen my coat? can't stalk around anyways." She said, her long legs making her a bit taller than the male. "anyways, I only ran off because somebody barked so loud it scared all the prey off" She growled. She then continued to scan the clearing for sign of any prey, seeming to completely ignore the male standing almost right next to her. She wasn't In the mood for being annoyed. She needed peace in order to hunt. Her eyes were narrow as she stood there. She wanted to just bolt off again, but she just stood there, she knew she would never get peace from this rude male.

Rato;
"Have you seen my coat? Can't stalk around anyways." Rato almost choked to death from laughing. A splash of green and you call yourself a rainbow. He was half blue, with some extra markings here and there. She then went on to complain about him — no, someone — scaring off all the prey. He pretended to gasp like he was surprised. "Was it you?"
He gave the girl a grin she probably won't enjoy. She was taller than him, but that didn't mean she had more attitude than him. He was scrawny, sure, but his small bones needed to make room for his tomfoolery. "Tell me girl, you don't fancy yourself a good hunter?" The tone in his voice became sympathetic. A false kind of sympathy, but sympathy all the same. He looked up and at the girl, his deep blue eyes radiating irritation. Well, it's not like he started it, right?
He arrived beside the girl on the rock, and sat down with a plop. It wasn't as good as the rock he was on before, but it'll have to do. He had to crane his neck more than he wanted to maintain eye contact, so he broke away quickly. His tail came around to wrap his peachy fore paws in a cocoon of fur. Then, he glowered at the frozen plains. No way was the girl gonna find smaller prey here. She'll need his help to hunt something like an elk or bison. Will he give it to her, though? He knows that's why he bothered her in the first place, but she was kind of rude about it. He doesn't know. When the time comes, I guess.

Idiot Male! She thought, her eyes narrowing further. "Anyways," She rolled her eyes saying anyways, "Whats your name, Rat? Cause you act like one. Annoying and won't leave you alone with it's squeaking!" She looked back at the clearing. Her lime green eyes widened quickly and she bolted. Was she chasing something? hard to tell because she was just a blur of brown and green.
She was running rather close to the forest. She seemed to tackle something and rolled quickly onto the ground with it in her jaws. She eventually got up with an injured snow hare in her jaws. "You were saying about a good hunter?" She said to the male when she got back. "here you go, I'm fine for now, not like I can't catch another." She smiled, she was warming up to this male.

Rato;
He chuckled at her bleak attempt at insulting him. Oh, little does she know. "Add an O," He commented. His ear twitched towards the girl. "Then you got my name. Rato." He said his name with a hint of disdain. He wasn't a fan of his name, but it was too late to change it now. He stretched out and laid out on the ice-cold rock. If they were going to talk for a while, then what's the point in standing? He already knew he was short.
Suddenly, the girl was a blur of motion and color. My god, was she fast. Faster than Rato could ever be. He usually played bait in hunts, not gonna lie, since none of his skills were used for that kinda stuff. A snow hare dangled limply in her jaws, to which he looked hungrily at. It's been, like, a day since he last ate. He was hungry. And when the girl offered it to him with a remark, surprise alit his features. He didn't argue about it though.
"Let me guess your name girl," He studied her various green stripes, and her lime eyes. Something to do with green. "What about Plant?" He would feel bad if that was her name. Rato had never been that good at guessing, but somebody with the name of Plant would definitely get bullied. Maybe or maybe not by him, you'll never know.

"Close enough, I'm Bush." She smiled at him, her brown and green fur blowing in the wind. She would lay down next to him, her front paws curling in to face her torso. "And again, what were you saying about a good hunter?" She smirked. She was still hungry but she was more than happy to giver her catch to the smaller male. She was happy just to lay here next to him, it was nice to lay next to a living creature to share body heat. "Rato, that's not a very nice name, now is it? like calling some-wolf injured deer, or baby rabbit." She laughed a bit at the male's name, but it wasn't a very nice one.

Rato;
"Close enough, I'm Bush." Close enough? He was spot on! A bush is a type of plant, correct? So, by default, he was correct. He kept his thoughts to himself, but didn't fail to make a face. It was a questioning glance, his lips pulled into a long line. Close enough is not gonna cut it.
She laid beside him and remarked about how fine her hunting skills are. Rato sighed. "You really wanna hear me say it, don't you?" He grumbled loud enough for her to hear. "Well, you're not." The scrawny male didn't like admitting he was wrong. Especially to wolves with the name of Bush. And when she commented on his name, he looked at her lime eyes. That was a step too far, buddy. Only he gets to crap on his name like that.
"Oh, and Bush is so much better than Rato." The only way to describe the way he said his words was with a hiss. The girl might mistaken it for just something the boy does, but nonono. That was an extra-annoyed hiss. Unable to be picked out from the rest, but still there. He pushed away the snow hare she caught for him, even though he still could eat more. It was mostly gone anyways.

She started laughing. "HAH, Bush is a stupid name, what kind of parent names their child bush?" She was laughing like crazy by now. when she stopped to breathe, she said, "You know, I kinda like you, Rato." Her tail wagged, she really did like this male. He was the first friend shes had since coming to this mountain range, and she felt like they were going to be friends for a while. "You gonna finish that if not, can I eat the rest?" She asked, after this long talk, she was hungry. "I am pretty hungry, you know." She said politely.

Rato;
It honestly kind of surprised him that the girl agreed with him on that. And started to laugh, like an insane amount. He just stared at the girl for a long moment before letting out his own kind of laugh. It wasn't a storm like Bush's, but a small haha of sorts. "At least we're on the same page." He mumbled before laying down all the way.
She wasn't as bad as she was at the beginning at the interaction, where she was standoffish and irritated. Now, she was saying she liked Rato. That was a first. Most of the time, he annoys others so much (or they annoy him) that they leave things on a rough patch and never talk again. He was fine with that; he didn't care too much for others and their wellbeing as long as they annoy him. It's always been like that. He felt kind of awkward, so he told her, "You're not too bad yourself" before closing his eyes and letting the sun bath him in her warmth.
"Knock yourself out" He lazily said. He was a small boy, no denying it, and he can't fit a lot in his body. He still eats much more than he should. He doesn't really care.

"Thanks." She ate as much as she could off of the bones of the snow hare. She was full enough to go after some baby snow hare playing out in the middle of the field. "well, see ya round." She bolted after the hares, catching a couple of them. After that, she disappeared from the view of the male. She found a nice place by the river and set her catches down. She took a drink, looking at the prey she caught ever couple seconds to make sure no wolf wanted to or had stolen them. After she finished drinking, she sat down to eat the hares.

Rato;
The conversation the two shared seemed to be more short-lived than he would've hoped. The girl bounded off into the distance — no doubt to hunt some more. Rato peeked one eye open and at the fading brown and green pelt that had entertained him for a couple of words. He would've shrugged if he was standing. But he wasn't, and this rock felt nice. "So long," He mumbled, not making a move to go after her. He wasted all the energy he was willing when he ran after Bush. Instead, he drifted off into sleep, his third nap of the day and counting.
