She knew he was close.
While the weather was getting cooler, as autumn had come upon the valley, that morning had been clear and crisp â not cloudy. Clouds were rolling in the air, despite the lack of a strong breeze, and they had led her to the lake. Her ears twitched side to side, catching all sounds. Ever since Fenrir had learned how to cover his tracks with his rain power, it was harder to find him in their âhide and seekâ games. Games - which helped both siblings, track down foes with stealth and speed.
She stopped at the tree line of the lake. Casting her gaze about, she found the trees became scarce on the other side of the lake and the plains revealed only an occasional bush. There was nothing large enough to hide Fenrirâs ferocious size on the other side.
Sigynâs pale green eyes searched the opening for a few more moments, wary and aware that her own blood red coat had no place to hide in the green and blue lake scenery. She had enjoyed the barrens â the ruddy landscape had made her own complexion easier on the eye⦠and easier to hide.
She crouched low, listening and waiting. The roiling clouds that hovered partially over the lake and partially over the forest that she was hiding in â they released a sudden heavy rainfall. Sigyn suppressed a moan and her ears flattened against her skull⦠So⦠it was going to be that kind of a game. Fenrir knew how much Sigyn had developed a hate of being wet since he had gained his ability. Now, he was trying to flush her out, trying to get her to act rash and end the game, so she could hide in his umbrella out of his own creation. Her lip twitched and she scowled silently, defiantly sinking lower to the ground, and instead looking around to where the rain fell hardest. Who was hunting who? She would find him.
————
Fenrir had selected the location on purpose, knowing his rain would be obvious, but if he could find a good place to shelter himself â hoping to draw his bright sister out into the open where he could easily see her. His clouds and mini storm dulled the colors of autumn on the lake, valley, and forest â making his sea green and black coat more camouflaged in the area. He had drawn her this far, hopefully into the open, where his larger bulky form would have an advantage.
He had found a large stone with a tree that hovered near it â and he had dug the earth a foot or two lower to more fully cover his enormous form. It also allowed him a view of the lake and parts of the forest line where his sister would no doubt emerge.
As the rain fell, he let it fall on him, knowing his sister had learned to spot him from his âumbrellaâ where he would make the water split over him like a dome. It pooled at his feet, mud spattered the bottom part of his body from the long prepared digging (as he had arrived hours earlier than his sister). He had been waiting a while, until the breeze had carried a faint hint of her smell â and then released the rain he had been building up.
A devious smile curled his lips. Silent looming figure waited in the shadows, hoping the annoyance would draw her out. If anything, she would feel safer in moving â as she would think the rain would cover sounds and smells. What she probably did not anticipate, was that the rain had become more of a friend â something he was so familiar with that he could distinguish smells and sounds in rain and lot better than before he had drunken Geistâs sweet potion. For the first time truly exploring the valley after joining Midnight Silence, Mayhem and Hailstorme had no defined reason to go to Kai Lake, other than to just get familiarized with it. But when Hailstorme suddenly rushed ahead and left Mayhem, it seemed to be much more of a game than just exploring. His green and yellow eyes glimmered in amusement, until the rain decided to fall. Then he let out possibly the most loudest groan he could make. "The clouds were just now covering the sun! Why?!" He sighed, but kept moving to see if he could find his sister.
Hailstorme stopped dead in her tracks when the rain began. She just stood and let it soak into her fur and dampen her scent. Her darkened fur was more heavier, but it was a small price to pay for the fact that her brother was going to have a harder time finding her. Hailstorme smirked and kept moving away from her brother. When the rain kept falling, Hailstorme just shrugged it off, but actually managed to climb a tree, which to her, was the best way to pounce on her logistic brother. She sat on a medium branch and waited.

Nyx, Yami;
Autumn. The forest and valley around was full of it. Orange and yellow, brown and the last hints of green... it was a fine time, Autumn. Not as harsh as winter, nor as unforgiving as summer, yet not so hopeful as spring. For orange-bodied animals, Autumn was the time that they could hide best. The time to keep things secret. Not that all kinds of orange-bodied animals needed natural seasons to remain hidden. Some kinds had a trick or two.
Yami plodded through the dead leaves, crunching her way down the path to Kai Lake. She was young, though fit—but uncannily skinny. The way she walked told that she was no stranger to strength and power f(or her age), but if she moved in the right way, her ribs or shoulder blades were visible under her orange, fire-like fur. Her eyes were black, like gaping holes, and they mirrored the emptiness that showed on her face. Other pups would have romped through the leaves, zigzagging around to crunch the loudest of them; but not Yami. Yami no longer felt like a regular pup. She had met a shadow demon. The wolfess hadn't actually done anything to her, but the thought that there were creatures like that lurking in the dark set Yami's teeth on edge. What had she said her name was, again?
Another orange body was moving swiftly through a different part of the forest. This body, however, was covered in a swirling darkness that lapped out and rolled across it as if made of fire. Nyx was on the move. She had just met that large brute Genoci and the snivelling little excuse he called Joi. She snorted in contempt. It was just proof that he was not as strong as her, or others she had met in the valley this far. Which, speaking of others, Nyx's ears suddenly perked. A familiar, but faint, smell was drifting in from the lake—though it was muted by the heavy rainfall that had suddenly started in the surrounding forest. It wasn't long before Nyx put two and two together and placed the scent and the rain. Why, it was Fenrir and Sigyn. They had had a happy little encounter not long ago—her neck had just finished healing. She wouldn't call them friends—Nyx would be loathe to call anybody that—but she was not opposed to their company, at least for a time. There were a few other unfamiliar scents, and perhaps another not so unfamiliar one that were mixing around the muddy banks.
Nyx broke through the trees and glanced around with dead eyes, picking Sigyn out of the basic colours right away. Fenrir she could not see or smell, but the rain meant he had to be there, too. From what Nyx had seen so far, the two were never far from one another. She didn't announce herself, though she wasn't hiding, but rather she sat near the line of trees and tilted her neck to the side, watching the siblings' game. For half a heartbeat, Nyx's keen eyes detected a flash of orange across the lake in the far trees, but looking closer, she saw nothing and slid her eyes back to Sigyn.

Sigynâs front paws kneaded the earth like a cat, crouching lower suddenly as a sound much like a groan whispered through the trees. A voice followed it, and the scents and smells of others. Sigyn made an inward groan, but did not make the mistake of making a noise, rather just a shudder of annoyance. There were others about. Normally, it would interest her in finding wandering wolves that she and Fenrir could pick on, but she wanted to finish their game, she wanted to win⦠So far with her ability she had not come up with an option to keep her unseen by others.
There. The rain was falling the hardest many yards down the lake coast where the trees began to thin. She was about the slip back into the forest to make her way to where she supposed Fenrir to be when a wolf broke into the clearing of the lake. She froze as she was rising out of her crouched position when the wolfâs piercing orange gaze found her. Oh great, Fenrir would be a fool not to take that hint.
She stood up all the way, meeting Nyxâs gaze quietly, nodding in silent greeting. She could stall the greeting as long as she could⦠Couldnât she?
——————
Fenrir had been patiently waiting, eyes darting â when sounds of other wolves started to enter the area. Interesting⦠Would their game end? A new one begin? He guessed that Sigyn would not back down easily. Then, of all the wolves to slip into the clearing, it was Nyx in the near distance. Nyx. For a moment, he almost forgot about the games they were playing and moved to where he could see a little better. Her gaze slid over where he was and straight into the forest where she locked eyes with something⦠or someoneâ¦twice. He smiled. He remembered his sister hiding, and could only assume Nyx had spotted his sister, and it was worth the risk, since their game was coming to a close anyways.
It also meant that he would not miss the opportunity to interact with Nyx, which had not been so disagreeable. In fact, of all wolves he had met so far in his journeying, Nyx had been the most interesting to him. He backed out of his dug out hiding place and bounded swiftly into the forest behind him, going around to get into the thicker of the forest so to come up behind (hopefully) his sister and meet Nyx in the end.
——————
After a few moments of silence she sighed and moved to a tree and sat to itâs left â using it to hopefully block herself from where she supposed Fenrir to be. She shivered from the wave of cold that the moisture in the air had captured and glanced up into the sky as the rain started to wane, lessening. Alert, she peeked around the tree to where she assumed Fenrir had been⦠she couldnât see any movement, but she assumed he was on the move if he had lost focus on his miniature storm. Great. Her eyes trailed back to Nyx with disgust.
She assumed defeat, but she would not move into the open quite yet, she couldnât admit it fully to herself.
âWell, well.â Sigyn purred, her voice carrying, but she tried to make it as soft and muted so it wouldnât carry so far. âIf it isnât Nyx, shadow master.â She sighed softly, adding inwardly, 'I can't say I missed you at all'. But at the same time Sigyn held the wolfess with respect, as their last encounter had been...fun. Which reminded her momentarily that there were other wolves in the forest somewhere too. Perhaps their encounter would end with the same note?
âQuite the popular place all of a sudden.â She mused in a softer tone.

Hailstorme sat perched in her tree, ears flickering at voices that were near her. It was her eyes that waited for her brother to appear. Soft rustling and a bush underneath her shook, and she braced for Mayhem who did appear. He trailed along the forest floor, unaware of his sister close behind him, quietly creeping up to him. It was until she snapped a twig that her brother freeze. But just before he could turn around, Hailstorme barreled into him, knocking the air out of him momentarily. She then slammed her front paws into his side, knocking him down before she pinned him. Slowly, she said, "I got you....!" Her eyes faked a murderous glint that visibly sent Mayhem shivering.
"W-What's gotten into you, sister....?" Mayhem asked, his voice shaky. "......" Mayhem's eyes widened when she didn't respond, until, "What's gotten into you,Mayhem? You were shaking as if I was going to kill you!" She guffawed, before falling onto her back, laughing. Her brother got up and instantly hit her upside the head. "Scared me..." He added silently.

((This is from my phone because my computer is being a pain (IT SAYS IT HAS WIFI BUT WONT CONNECT) so please bear with me))
Nyx, Yami;
Yami froze in her black-pawed tracks. She had come to the edge of a clearing and could see Kai Lake before herâbut that wasn't what had her heart shuddering painfully. It was the shadow. It was the night. It was Nyx. Yami started backing up out of fear, but snapped a twig and froze all over again when Nyx's chilling gaze fell on her. They locked eyes for but a moment, though Yami hoped she blended in with the trees enough to fool the awful female. She could hear voices, a male and a female, on the other side of her, but she could barely spare them a thought. She stood as if paralyzedâtoo exposed to move further in any direction, for fear that Nyx would come sniffing. The female in the middle of the clearing—the one who had arrived there first—spoke to Nyx, though she was facing away and Yami couldn't hear the words. They seemed to know one another. This was frightening enough, but just as Yami noticed that, something shifted in the way the rain was falling. Off to her right, across from the females, the rain had been falling heavilyâbut it stuttered for a moment, as if nature had become distracted. Pair that with the sudden sound of distant footsteps, and Yami was almost sick with terror. She continued telling herself that if she just stayed still and hidden, the orange and black shadow demon wouldn't find her, and she would be safe.
Nyx's shadows rolled over her back, mimicking the unsettled autumn waters of the lake before them. Sigyn saw her and gave a quiet greeting, then went to hide behind a tree. Nyx's eyes narrowed slightly as she tried to decipher what she was doing. But then a memory came to her blackened mind, and a flicker of understanding went off in her head. Weren't her and her brother, Fenrir, always playing some sort of twisted game? They had been the day that they had happened upon Nyx herself, if she could remember correctly. She assumed that's what was happening now, though Fenrir was yet undetected. A shout came up from her right and she turned on the spot, neck snapping to attention. Another pair of voices. Perhaps male and female, though both were deep. Her eyes narrowed sill further. So it was to be this sort of meeting, was it? Ahh well. It hadn't turned out so badly last time. Maybe there would be another female Nyx could cripple this time. A dark smile crept to her dry, broken lips.
She turned as Sigyn addressed her, allowing the shadows to roll out from her in a surprisingly graceful display. They spread out behind her and blanketed her back and the forest floor, as if she were wearing a cape. Her eyes smouldered and she gave Sigyn a rare greeting-smile. "The very same." Sigyn had spoken to her much the same way last time they metâas if it was a true title. Whether it was in mockery or not, Nyx didn't know, but everyday as her power grew, it became closer to the truth. "And if it isn't Sigyn. Pebble unsettler." She gave a croaking, wheezing laugh and shook out her dry mane. For once, her words didn't seem as though they were meant to offendâat least not in any serious way.
The shadows in her cape gradually shrunk and lightened in colour once more, then slid back to where they had come from. Nyx's own shadow however, as usually, did not. It remained rolling over her and stalking beside her, almost as an afterthought. Indeed, it didn't seem to take much of her concentration anymore.
"And where is your charming other half?"

If he hadn’t been thinking about orange and black, he probably would have passed by the small groveling creature as if it were part of the fall background. But, Fenrir had been thinking of orange and black, of Nyx, so his bound slowed to quiet walk – eyes focused on the small creature that caught his attention. Nyx? No, too small, and the markings were not right. He blinked, eyes not leaving the small creature that looked like a diminishing fire, his ears swiveling to make sure there wasn’t anyone else too near. The wolf… err, pup? Was closer to the part of the forest where the lake was visible and he could possibly be seen, but it seemed their game would need to shift…to the attention of the wandering pup… That was interesting. It was alone. Fenrir couldn’t remember the last time he had been alone or felt alone. Even if he didn't have Sigyn, he would be naturally a solitary creature, being alone held no threat to him. So, facing this pup with fear ridden all over its body, he could not even fathom, sympathize or empathize with what it was feeling.
His eyes glittered with new interest, narrowing slightly as he approached, towering enormously over the small wolf. He was used to standing taller than other wolves, but it had been a while since he had been near one so young. The victims of Fenrir and Sigyn had primarily been those weakened by traveling alone, or tricked into being alone. They had stayed away from packs, therefore pups by nature. His foot steps stopped when the young wolf was almost under him, memories long buried sparked as he stared into the empty black eyes of the pup. It wasn’t as young as Sigyn’s pups had been when they had been murdered, but still…
He lowered his head toward the bundle, not aware of how muddy and dirty he still was. Also, unaware of how he may appear to the little one. His eye had healed from the fight season past, but it left a soft scar that contrasted against the black mask that outlined his eyes. Anger from his thoughts swelled within him and without much thought he bent down and picked up the small wolf by the scruff of the neck. A growl rumbled in his throat, a warning to Yami whose neck he held.
———————————-
When the shadows started to move, she hardly flinched, already prepared for the unsettling and unnatural movement of the shadows. The shadows moved eerily despite the sun that was starting to break through Fenrir’s rain cloud that was starting to disperse. The creative and unnatural movements appealed to her twisted side, and she watched them curl and twist with pleasure. Nyx’s faux cape made her seem more regal, in a spooky way, and if she could have, she would have raised in eyebrow at her smile and seemingly embracing the title.
A bark of laughter exited her maw in reaction to Nyx’s wording and her teeth clapped back together in a frustrated clench as she realized what she had done. Noise. She didn’t know why she still tried or cared, but she used to be better at tracking and finding than Fenrir, and now he had slipped around and became better. She had not anticipated it.
Her frustration was only a flash, and she let herself come back to the present, a grim grin on her maw. She had already spread her ability about, feeling for objects that would respond to her mind and lift. There were not as many pebbles and dust as there had been in the barrens, but there were light twigs and thinner sticks that responded rapidly to her touch. They lifted so subtly, but just enough for her to move them on the ground. She mimicked the patterns of Nyx’s shadow, as if they were also a shadow or the rippling water. There was much more finesse in the movement of each pebble and stick, pointing and turning the sticks just so, and grouping the pebbles as if they were small flat shapes melding and unmelding.
Whether or not Nyx had meant it as a mockery, she knew…for now… her ability was limited. It would take practice and patience until she could acquire higher control over her ability.
“Aye…. For now.” She said, reflecting her thoughts, and the pebbles and sticks rolled to a stop.
At the mention of Fenrir, her brother, Sigyn stiffened a little and stood up with a motion much like a shrug. Her semi-smile did not shift though, her mind thinking of each word Nyx had spoken. Charming, being the most interesting. She did not answer the orange and black evil wolfess, just scoffed a little at the wording. Charming was ironic, but at the same time, she wondered if she was being serious. Words were often used and deciphered differently by different personalities. Charming may be different to a dark hearted Nyx.
She didn’t have much to think about it, because mister charming himself loomed out of the forest and strode quickly to them, holding something orange and black in his maw.
“Speaking of the devil…” She muttered with distraction, eying the fluff in Fenrir’s mouth. He loomed closer and she couldn’t help but glance at Nyx, as if she had lost part of herself, but no… He approached like a ghost, despite his size, he seemed to float across the ground between them. His amethyst gaze glanced at Sigyn and winked, and she swore he was smiling and gloating through the prize in his mouth. Big show off.
He passed Sigyn and she couldn’t help but notice how much closer he put himself to Nyx. Was it something he did thoughtless or with intention? He also placed the bundle at his feet so it was between the three of them, but closer to Nyx. ooc// i can't believe you did that whole post via phone! xD

Hailstorme and Mayhem stopped their little tussle when they heard some voices, and wolf scents drifted faintly in the wind. Hailstorme followed it, followed by a very skeptical Mayhem. The two came across the source of the scents and, by result, the voices. Mayhem stepped in front to look at the red and white female, a large sea foam green male, and two black and orange females. "More wolves than I expected, but that's just fine." He said, taking a look at each wolf. "But hello anyways. I'm Mayhem." Mayhem said in a low, yet calm voice. Hailstorme nodded and spoke as well. "And I'm Hailstorme, his sister." Her voice was of a bit higher volume. The two siblings looked over the wolves again, just in case they needed to run. But the bigger of the two females had shadows lapping at her, and that made Hailstorme flinch visibly.

Yami, Nyx;
The worst had happened. Just as the feeling was starting to come back into Yami's legs, a massive sea-foam nightmare appeared out of the bushes. She had heard him coming, but there had been a delay from her brain to her body. As it was, she simply tripped backwards a few steps and gaped up at the brute. He did not look friendly, and he advanced on her intimidatingly, until she could have touched his chest with her nose. She craned her neck up to look at the monster in mute terror. Could she escape him? There was no way she could outrun him... but perhaps she could use her size and the tightly knit forest to her advantage. But then, just as her hopes disappeared as if made of mist, powerful jaws clamped around the scruff of her neck and she felt herself lifted from the ground. A deep, bone-shaking growl eminated from Fenrir's chest, all the more loud because Yami was hanging so close to his throat. Her hind legs pulled up and her tail rooted itself firmly between her legs. She slouched and held her fore paws close to her body in some mock-form of protection, but otherwise remained quiet. There was nothing she could do. Plus, being stolen by the big wolf would have been bad enough—but to her dismay, the pair broke through the leaves and began a steady pace towards the exact wolf that she didn't want to be near ever again. — Sigyn showed off her gift a little bit more, moving the rocks in much the same way as Nyx was moving the shadows. Nyx blinked slowly. It was certainly an interesting gift—and strictly speaking, more useful than her own. But since when did Nyx let anything like that stop her? She had already proven just how deadly she could make her so called 'defensive gift'. But in any case, she allowed an uneven smile to form o her mouth, directed to the female. Sigyn was not the most disagreeable wolf she had met.
But then, Nyx's eyes flicked from the red and white female to movement at the corner of the forest. "Speaking of the devil..." Sigyn said, looking over too. Nyx glanced back at her for a moment, weighing what she had said in her mind. It was interesting, hearing another wolf called "devil". She had come to associate the term with herself, if only because it was used so frequently.
As Fenrir drew closer, an orange ball in his mouth caught Nyx's attention. When Nyx's eyes hit Yami she squirmed in Fenrir jaws despite herself. Nyx clicked her teeth together. Ah, so it hadn't been a trick of the light off in the leaves that she had seen. Nyx hadn't thought so. She was the one who played tricks with the light. She didn't get tricked. She rolled her shoulders under her loose, dry skin and watched on in silence as the large male approached. Yami felt her eyes drawn to meet Nyx's, try as she might to avoid it.
Nyx sensed then, rather than saw, Sigyn glance at her hesitatingly as Fenrir came up. She didn't look back, but caught sight of the look in the side of her vision. What was this, now? Nyx wasn't sure what the weight behind that glance meant, but there was something there, hidden behind Sigyn's eyes. No, whatever it was wasn't enough to mention outloud... but it was something. Sigyn was a wolf that calculated everything she did—and she would not have let such a telling action slip by on purpose. What sort of fun could Nyx have with that?
As Fenrir approached, he stopped and sat closer to her than to his sister. Nyx wondered if Sigyn had noticed, too. She didn't pay it much heed though, because she was again experiencing that possesive, feral, wild feeling as she looked at the big brute's frame. She allowed her fiery gaze to drift across his own amethyst one for but a moment. Her tail thrashed behind her and her concentration broke, though, when she realized what he was holding.
Well... Well... Well. She had met this pup before. Yami flinched as she was dropped, but instinctivly backed into Fenrir, between his front legs and against his chest. He wasn't safe, no, but he was a far-cry better than the puppeteer. She began to shake, with no words, no ideas, and no hope.
Whatever Nyx had been about to say to the pup was lost as yet another pair of wolves came trotting into the lake grounds. Her eyes flicked to the newcomers. They seemed immedietly ill at ease, but that was for good reason. It was highly possible that word of the three Evil wolves and what they were capable of had travelled through the valley. She chuckled quietly to herself. What a charming prospect. "More wolves than I expected, but that's just fine." The male spoke.
"Oh, is it? Splendid." Nyx replied tauntingly, her eyes shifting to Mayhem's face as her dry voice permeated through the autumn air. The two smelled of Midnight Silence, so she withheld most of her animosity, but the fact that he dubbed it 'fine' that they were there at all rubbed her fur the wrong way. When the female, Hailstorme apparently, spoke up, Nyx hadn't planned to look at her—but one quick glance was enough to notice the discomfort plain on her face. Nyx's eyes lit up, as did the tattoo on her head (which had been glowing dully but now fired-up anew).
"Don't tell me you're afraid of the dark?" Her own shadow, which had been prowling, grew slightly but remained in the shape of her, and pranced over to Fenrir. There wasn't much to work with, with the watery sun hidden behind the clouds, but Nyx could work wonders with just a little darkness. She didn't even look at the shadow form, keeping her eyes level on Hailstorme. The shadow-Nyx circled Fenrir once, then twice. It twisted its dark head towards Sigyn before sliding across Fenrir's chest and frame, then swiping its tail under his chin. Yami, having not been shooed away yet, tried to press farther into his big chest to avoid having the shadow touch her. "Nothing to be afraid of."

Fenrir had moved slowly to the pair, seeing Sigyn half hidden by a tree, but standing. He could feel every movement of the pup he held and it seemed the moment she realized where they were headed she thrashed in his grasp. There was no worry about losing his grip, but he still became more conscious of his grip. When he caught Sigynâs gaze he winked, because while there had been no victor of their last game, but he had gone the longest without being seen⦠So, therefore the victor in his own books. He reveled in that a moment before getting distracted by Nyx again, unconsciously placing himself closer to her.
Once the pup was out of his grip he watched Nyx and allowed his thoughts to wander away from the moment and into a theoretical moment where they were alone. He had had his games with she-wolves before, but none that had ever been mutual in any way. At this moment the pup was distracting Nyxâs attention, until Fenrir was torn away from his own fantasies as the new couple of wolves approached. His stoic expression had not changed except for the wink he had slipped to Sigyn, otherwise he was as stone, and felt no fear from the attention of the wolves.
Fenrir felt taken aback at their first greeting, but did not show it. What had they expected, had they not smelled them, but it wasâ¦fine? It would not be fine if they knew who they were dealing with. Obviously they did not.
His eyes glanced over to the female â then back to the male as she announced her familial attachment to the male. They had similarities, but nothing quite distinct. At that moment he lost interest, until Nyx started to interact with the two, catching the femaleâs uneasiness with her shadows. Then his own attention was naturally drawn to her shadow that grew a little and left her side, approaching him. He felt a pleasure as it circled him and he wanted to pounce on it, but he knew it was all light tricks, nothing he could get a hold of. He watched the shadow; not really realizing it had glanced at his sister before sliding across him. He let his imagination take hold of the movements as if it were Nyx herself, his eyes alit with amusement, the only sign that he was very much paying attention. A low hum, hardly audible, rumbled again in his chest and looked down in surprise as he actually felt something at his chest.
It was the pup. His thoughts warred momentarily between pleasure and amusement of the fear in the pupâs eyes. Still, while the pup was not newborn age, it reminded him too much of Sigynâs litter. His body tensed with the memories, though the blood spilling had been pleasurable, the loss that night had not been. He stepped back and lowered his head, pushing Yami back into the circle and away from him.
He was hardly aware of the drizzle he had summoned with his emotions.
————————————————
Sigyn had smelled the two wolves and was not as entranced with the pup. It was not hers, and since Nyx had so much interest in it â her interest waned. The pup was too old, she wanted her own from the start. Adopting⦠or stealing young pups may do the trick, but that would be tricky; since the pack or family usually heavily guarded pups. Perhaps though, if their group grew more, they would be able to accomplish such a feat. She knew she would never love again as she had her past mate, if anything a male would be a way for her to have her own kin.
Her gaze avoided the young wolf and fell on the wolves that approached. Ah, much better. They had a similar scent, a pack scent? Familial? The family part was confirmed, but her mind settled on the maleâs entrance. He acted as if their greeting was⦠fine? What did that mean? She enjoyed Nyxâs smooth reply and scoffed a little in shared amusement.
Then her eyes cast into the sky. The clouds that had gathered were gathering once more but directly over them and started to drizzle. Her gaze then immediately moved to her brother who, while stoic, was intently distracted. Fenrir was her brother, but she had never had to share him and his protection, and she wasnât sure how Nyx was able to catch his attention like she did. Well⦠That wasnât true. She did see, but she did not want to see or understand. Most females Fenrir had crossed had been toys or momentary things, more for his passing amusement and usually did not match his darkness.
She decided she didnât want to think about it anymore. Perhaps it was just another passing amusement, and she let herself believe it, despite the hotness in her stomach. Sigyn decided to distract herself with the new company.
Her red frame moved with confidence toward the pair, circling around them and smelling the air dramatically. âSure does smell like fear.â She purred, contrasting Nyxâs raspy voice. She then returned back to her original spot, looking on the pair with a clear challenge to contradict her.

"Oh, were we interrupting something?" Mayhem asked, though not cautiously. Hailstorme watched as the red female walked around her and her brother. Fear? Hailstorme nearly scoffed, but Mayhem managed to plant a light kick on her side. "Hey." He drawled out lowly, aware of the shadows and of the large black female, whom had a strange tattoo on her head. This female smelled slightly like Midnight Silence, so he supposed provoking her would be wrongful, so he looked at the smaller pup. She looked petrified, and probably was right to be so. Hailstorme leaned forward, a sly smirk on her face when she saw the small pup's terrified look. Hailstorme let her mind wander for a second, before her brother spoke. "If we are in the middle of something, we'll leave you all to do so." His voice was cold, a sign he was expecting some sort of battle. But he merely shifted paws in a flee position, while Hailstorme was in her passive position.

Nyx, Yami;
Nyx's eyes, usually so lifeless, were burning with the same sort of light that her magical tattoo was giving off. She continued looking into Hailstorme's eyes, but not fully seeing, as she was also aware of how Fenrir was reacting to her little game. From the very corner of her vision, she could see him. Now, she did not know him, and nor did he show any outward reaction—but a flash in his eyes caught her attention. He was enjoying that little show. While focused into Hailstorme's eyes, though seeing past her and looking at nothing at all, Nyx could suddenly imagine that it wasn't just her shadow that was prowling around Fenrir. For half a moment, she could see herself doing a similar display. This wasn't some fleeting, innocent thing, either. No, Nyx did not fool herself. She would never love—she never had, and she knew that she wasn't capable of it; but something about Fenrir set off all kinds of reactions in her mind. Heated reactions. Fast, wild, dangerous.
Unconciously, Nyx's breathing had sped up. She checked herself, wiping her mind, and refocusing on Hailstorme. She had definitly been uncomfortable before, as Sigyn had apparently noticed as well—but now seemed quite surprised and even a bit skeptical that the others had noticed. What a power that must be. To feel emotions and then be able to scoff and change them once they were discovered. Nyx's yellow teeth poked out from under her dry lips as she fixed the female with a haunting stare.
"You aren't interrupting anything," Nyx suddenly replied to Mayhem, shifting her eyes from Hailstorme for the first time since looking at her and breaking all sorts of tension as if it were no stronger than grass. "Sigyn and I were just getting to know your sister." Lie. Dangerous. Threat.
Nyx's smile suddenly adopted a more genuine expression and she even forced herself to blink a few times (not something she made a habit of), and she gave Mayhem a look-over. "There's no need to leave. She straightened slowly, cracking her neck just once. Her shadow was still circling around Fenrir, but when she came close to it, it snapped back to its former position of rolling over her back in no particular shape.
Silently, Nyx herself now circled Fenrir once, then twice. She allowed her shoulder to brush his own—the first contact the two had ever had (and really, the first contact Nyx had had with anybody for some time). Her skin crawled for only a moment—or was that heat she felt? She locked eyes with the big brute for only a moment on the last circle, then slowly turned her head back to the other siblings as if nothing about what she had just done was out of the ordinary. "See? We're all friends here..."
Next, when Fenrir looked down at Yami she brought her chin directly up so she could meet his eyes. Silently, she pleaded him to let her stay. To protect her. She didn't even know what she was asking, really. She just knew she couldn't be left alone with Nyx. But then he pushed her back to the centre of the group, not roughly, but firmly enough that she lost her balance (despite trying to push against the big male) and plopped down in the centre. Nyx, who was closer to Fenrir by then, now looked the pup over once more.
Their previous meeting hadn't been long, and nor had much happened... but it had been enough. All manner of things can happen in the dark, and Yami had only learned a few of them. She was alone, with no family to speak of. She didn't know who her parents had been, nor the name of the pack she had come from, but something about her had set Nyx's blood boiling. Nyx was never a particularily level-headed sort of animal, but this little pup ignited such an anger in her that at first, it had surprised even herself. She had been thinking of all sorts of things that could happen if and when they met again—and here they were. Not a week since their last (un)fortunate meeting. Yami may be many things, but smart, she was apparently not.
The older orange female bent down slowly, threateningly, her shoulders sticking out past her thin frame, until she was at eye-level with the pup.
"What should we do with this?"

ooc// holy cow, sorry for the wait! I saw this earlier, and replied in my head... but not with text...and you know, an actual post xD ic// Sigyn eyed the two wolves, realizing that the way Nyx was treating them was... different. Nyx's dry voice was saying that she held no hostility, at least not like she would two any other wolves. It took her a moment, eyes watching the two wolves with mild interest as she puzzled out who they may be. Pack wolves, perhaps a pack Nyx was familiar with? The two were siblings, much like Sigyn and Fenrir, but at the same time, Sigyn would never compare her relationship with Fenrir with any other sibling bond. Their bond, while close and intimate, was hinged on the fact that both shared similar anger and feelings. They knew that they benefited from the other, and for that they stayed together without real conversation about it. If Sigyn became useless or changed how she felt about life? She was sure Fenrir would fade from her life, rightly so, as Sigyn would do the same to him. Yet, the two traveled together, an unspoken agreement and wraith in their relationship.
The sea green eyes of the red vixen shifted to Nyx with little movement of her body, watching her emotionless as Nyx took place of her shadow. Moving around Fenrir. Usually she would scoff at such a play, and while wolves had tried to lay claim on Fenrir before, there was a possessiveness? To the way the orange and black wolfess moved. She was not watching directly, so missed the contact between the two, mostly looking for something to distract herself.
Friends... A smirk played at her maw at the word, but only for a moment. Friends. Darkness had no friends, but allies. She guessed that Nyx had purposely used the word with plain irony, especially how the friendly word sounded coming out in her voice.
It was the likeness between the two and the fact that Fenrir moved the pup from under him that drew her attention to the pup. The young wolf didn't seem to belong to anyone, so there was no point in killing it other than to shed blood. She blinked, and moved herself to be a little closer. She peeked over Nyx's crouched shoulder at the frightened pup.
"It's so young and pathetic; Probably teachable. Perhaps not as useless as it looks." She mused over the idea, if she had come across a pup like this, and Nyx had not taken so much interest over it, she probably would have taken it under her own guidance, according to her contrasting motherly yearning for pups of her own. However, this was not that sort of situation. Besides- the similarity between the two wolves, Nyx and the pup, were uncanny. Nyx had to know that, right? It was almost as if they had been made to meet.
"The young are very... impressionable." Adults are on the other paw, very stuck in their ways until something drastic touches their lives. Sigyn had to let a smirk on her paw at the thought. âTest it?â She mused in a light, no commitment, tone and referring the whelp as it.
——————————————
Fenrir was in his own little world, and was enjoying it thoroughly.
Love, was never a word Fenrir had ever known, and probably would ever know in a romantic way. He knew lust. He knew fire. He knew control. He knew pleasure and he knew what he wanted. Usually, Fenrir could get his way by force. He thought lightly of that as Nyx suddenly was there and claimed her shadow. Blinking he watched as she circled him⦠It was not as intimate at his imagination had been, but it was a step closer. Fenrir never thought in terms of âfishingâ or âluringâ prey to him, not until he had got his gift from Geist. Nyx was not just any sort of prey, but he still had a hard time grasping the idea of luring the femme, if no one else had been there. He would probably just take her. In fact, what stopped him?
The moment Nyx brushed against him he moved for the first time, just his neck. Craning to look at the spot and then at the femme. He stared back at her, and he was just moments from making up his mind â but he was aware of the pup still. Before he had moved it, there was some sort of communication that it was trying to tell him something desperately, but he was still enthralled with Nyx and wanted nothing to do with the pup and what it did to old memories...
And then Nyx was gone and almost out of reach. His moment had passed, leaving a monster within him unsatisfied.
He blinked, and sat; licking his lips and let his gaze fall on the pup against his will. Perhaps the little thing was better off dead, though his thoughts had only gone down that path because it had taken away his moment, that had been so close...

Hailstorme grunted, sitting down as Mayhem studied the young pup. His eyes glanced at the others before settling back onto the pup. As unsettling as he could be, he slunk forward, closer to the wolves while still keeping his eyes on her. "Me and Hailstorme could help, depending on what you mean by test." His voice was low, sharp, and falsely passive. When he spoke of his sister, he could hear her walking up to his side. Her smirk turned into a small, devilish smile. Mayhem's flat lips lifted in a shadow of a smile, and his ears flicked. He glanced at his sister, looking at her eyes with a look that could've meant "Get that light out of your eyes" when he saw the eagerness in her.

Nyx, Yami;
Nyx was aware of Sigyn's eyes on her while she danced around Fenrir, slow and calculatingly. She doubted she would have even done such a thing if the brute's sister hadn't been there. A yellow tooth poked out below her lip as she gave a half-smile, feelingless, emotionless, lifeless. When Nyx's shoulder grazed Fenrir's and he met her eyes, she looked back unabashedly. She felt the air around him shift, as if he was holding his breath. What would happen next? Her cold heart thrummed a few times in the hollow of her chest cavityânot excited, no, it was something else that she couldn't quite place. Looking at him, she could not deny that there was a part of her that was moments away from digging her claws into him right then; but alas, it was not the same feeling as before. There was no carnal, wild thoughts piercing through her head. It took her a good few seconds to realize why.
He was not threatening anyone. He was not covered in blood. There was no stink of fear or death in the air.
But then he broke eye contact and focused on the pup. Yami cowered as the attention of the group settled back onto her. Nyx, not exactly being in the throws of imagination and passion as she had once been, allowed her own gaze to slide down to the pup at their feet as well. The bulky male said nothing, but Sigyn began speaking. Nyx shifted her eyes to the female. Immedietly, she suggested teaching the thing. Huh. Nyx hadn't thought of that. If she had been being honest, and she rarely was, she would have admitted that she had been considering killing it, if only to test her theory and see if the fresh kill brought her hunger for Fenrir back. Yami seemed to sense what Nyx was thinking, or at least smell the curiosity on her, and shifted a few more inches backward. Her ears were flat against her head, eyes massive even with their blackness.
The other siblings, Mayhem and Hailstorme, picked up on what Sigyn said last. She suggested testing the pup somehow. Nyx's own ears flicked and she nodded slowly. That plan had merit. She stood taller and looked down, and though she was not a large female, she towered over Yami. "A little test for a little wolf? Oh, I'm sure we could think of something like that. What do you think, pup?" Nyx's voice sounded like she desperately needed to clear her throat or drink some water. It was not a whisper, but rather the shadow of what could have been a whisper. It was quiet, but pleanty loud enough for all to hear. "I must say, I hadn't expected to see you again. Wasn't once enough?" Now she bent down, her tail thrashing behind her, and nipped at the air in front of Yami.
Yami didn't know what happened. She hadn't even planned it. But before she knew it, her little teeth were bared in a snarl and her paw was swinging outward toward Nyx's maw. Her claws clipped Nyx and caught her upper lip. She made contact, but the only problem was that she didn't run or really even move afterward. She stood dumbstruck for only a second, but that was enough for Nyx. Nyx lunged forward, having not flinched from the hit, and closed her teeth around Yami's scruff. She twisted her neck one way, swinging little Yami out towards Mayhem and Hailstorme, then snapped her head back and released, sending the pup crashing to the ground. She toppled over herself in the dust until she came to a dead stop when she crashed against Sigyn's powerful front legs. For a moment, Yami, still being confused and rather disoriented, tried baring her teeth at Sigyn too—but the effect was dampened by the fact that she was upside down and covered in dirt.
