Kanga;This was ridiculous. The trees were too pink, the ground was too soft, and the air smelled too sweet. Even in the dead of Autumn with winter fast-approaching, the trees in the Forest of Love were as pink as an early spring sunset. Just ridiculous. The wolves running around were all bent on finding fleeting romances, being sappy, and in general sharing their neediness with the world. No, he shouldn’t do this. Turn around. The russet giant of an animal swung his massive head around and stared heading back the way he had come. By then he paused. Paws that could have belonged to a bear for all their size, halted on the springy moss that was just waiting for a pair of love-sick honeys to get comfortable on it. No, no... he shouldn’t leave. He had come this far. He was going to do this. He turned around again and marched forward with purpose. The red in his fur was flashing more than usual, for he was agitated and moving even more than normal. Power, he hoped that nobody he knew saw him. Brown eyes ringed with the fur-colour of his twin swept the area. Nobody in sight yet. Good! If he could spend the day here and not see anybody, no harm done, at least he could tell himself that he tried. Long and perilously sharp teeth flashed from behind his lips. He really shouldn’t be doing this. It was so ridiculous. And yet... He growled, a deep and terrible sound prone to stroke fear in even the sturdiest of hearts. No, he wouldn’t leave. The very least he could do was to wander around and just see what happened. There was no real harm in it, unless somebody he knew found him. The image of Manaaki happening upon him in that moment was so awful it made his teeth hurt. No, no, no distraction. He was doing this. Kanga gave his mane and his ruff a wild shake, then settled down against one of the larger pink trees. No harm in just testing the waters... right?

Burnice;Ahh such beautiful sights, the forest of love. Burnice's smile would brighten anyones day, her long blonde soft pelt would glimmer, her tail swaying slowly sideways. Burnice trotted along the forest, humming a song and noticed the pink leaves that would fall off the trees " Sigh, Isn't the forest of love beautiful?" she said softly and to herself as she stopped on her tracks. Burnice looked around and saw no one in sight, but Burnice didn't care much really, she just enjoys the sights and the forest itself " La-dee-da! oh the forest is so beautiful!" Burnice sang and her voice was sweet, almost sounded like an angel was singing. Burnice walked to a nearby lake and drank some water " Ahhh, refreshing!" she smiled once again then turned her back and walked to a nearby large pink tree " I'll just wait here for awhile," she said as she sat down and looked at the bright sky.

Kanga;
A voice on the honey-sweet wind penetrated Kanga’s brain. His silver-ringed eyes narrowed. So soon? He glanced around his tree, surprised that the trunk was thick enough to hide him and that the female who had sat down close by hadn’t noticed him. He moved back to his place of rest, and decided what to do. If he left right now, she might never know he was here. No, but that defeated the entire purpose of coming here in the first place.
The female was speaking to herself, he could hear her. She kept commenting on how beautiful the area was. He withheld a heavy exhale. A wairangi to be sure. But perhaps this was the day for new experiences. Kanga growled slightly. No, that didn’t feel right. Today wasn’t that day—and tomorrow wasn’t looking good either. No. He had been wairangi for even coming. This had been a bad idea.
The giant of a wolf got up and attempted to slink away, but as he did so he stepped on a large stick, causing a resounding crack to splinter the silence. On instinct (bad instinct), Kanga doin around to see if the female had heard—only to realize he was by then in full view. He cleared his throat and tossed his russet mane to try and cover up his would-be dash. Perhaps she hadn’t noticed.

Burnice;
Burnice heard a stick snapped and she quickly turned to see what it was "Huh?" Burnice said and her eyes quickly widen as she saw a giant russet wolf out in the open "Eeek!" she jumped, her heart was racing and she trembled "Where did he come from?" Burnice thought in her mind and tried to calm down "Wh-who are you?" her voice sounded like she was in fear and gulped.
Burnice didn't want to look like she was weak, especially in front of a stranger- a giant one for that matter. Burnice breathed heavily still her heart was racing, what was a giant male like him doing here anyway? he looked like he could be busy doing something else rather than to be here- in the forest of love.
Her hair covered a little bit of her left eye and her eyes were gleaming because of the angle Burnice was at. "Please don't get killed, please don't get killed." is all she could say in her fearful mind as Burnice took a step back looking as if she wanted to flee, no, don't let him think you are a coward, Burnice stopped breathing heavily and took two steps forward to the giant male.

Kanga;
Kanga had almost forgotten that the sight of him could still be quite a shock for a wolf that had never met him before. He was often mistaken for a bear if he was glimpsed running through the trees, this was true, but he had become so familiar with the wolves he saw around the valley that the shock-factor had somewhat depleted. He grinned roguishly. He liked the shock-factor.
The female leapt up, no doubt uncomfortable that such a large Kanga had been so close without her knowledge. Well in his defense, she had been the one to walk up and not notice him in the first place. Kanga's powerful shoulders rolled as he turned around to face her fully. A bit of her mane was in front of one shining eye, he noticed immediately. "Doesn't that get annoying?" He asked, nodding toward the fur in her line of vision. His voice was so deep it all but crackled through the sweet-smelling air like distant thunder. He gave his own mane a rough shake, sending flashes of the red underneath. His own fur was wild—thick and untamed—but it never blocked his sight. She was obviously frightened, whoever she was, but then she surprised him by moving forward.
Kanga's ears flicked, then he sat down heavily and with a great thud. "I'm Kanga," He rumbled in response to her stuttered-question. "Wh-who are you?" The impish grin widened slightly.

"Doesn't that get annoying?"
Burnice;
She scoffed a little almost wondering why he would ask such a thing, but then again "No, well, kind of." Burnice blew her hair out of the way and quickly noticed the large male shake his mane roughly, wild and untamed "wow" she thought in awe. As Kanga sat down, so did Burnice "Well Kanga," her eyes closed and she took a deep breath "Ahem, I'm Burnice- Nice to meet you!" Burnice smiled softly as her tail swayed and ears flickered.
Burnice noticed Kanga's deep voice, she would have never guessed she would meet a wolf with such a deep voice, especially since Burnice's voice is soft. She analiyzed Kanga, his mane, his voice, his height and Kanga's attitude "If you don't mind me asking, Kanga... What are you doing here? In the forest of love?" Burnice tilted her head and the wind blew a fresh cool air which would blow both the wolves pelt "I'm here because of the lovely sights this forest has to offer!" once again Burnice smiled, just being here made her happy.

Kanga;
The scoff that escaped the female’s lips almost made Kanga’s grin crack. He could hear Manaaki within his mind now, begging him to be polite and easy on her. Pssh. In any case, she tossed the long fur out of her face when he said it. Kanga’s eyes danced as he caught her looking at him. Perhaps this trip to the forest hadn’t been a mistake, after all. Plans changed all the time. She introduced herself as Burnice, and Kanga’s grin held fast. ”My father’s mother was named Burnice.” He had met the old female all but once. She hadn’t made an impression on him other than to remember her name. As he spoke, he was aware of how closely she was watching him. If there was one thing Kanga loved, it was being in the spotlight. When she asked him why he was in the forest, however, he fought not to tip his eyes backward. The answer to the question should have been obvious. Why would any wolf in their right mind come to the forest, other than to find the love that it claimed to host?
But Kanga’s answer wasn’t so simple. He wasn’t about to get into it—but he barely even knew why he was there. His wicked grin never wavered though, and he swung his massive head back and forth. ”I’m here for the same reason as anybody else. It is the Forest of Love.” Burnice then went on to explain how much she loved it within the pink trees. Kanga made a retching sound. ”Honestly, this forest is the worst—in my opinion. I’ve always done just fine with females without a backdrop of pink. And yet, here I am. So what does that say about me?” He angled his head downward and met her eyes. He was still hoping very hard that nobody he knew saw him.

Chai;
Chai had passed multiple wolves, but not close enough to hear their soft murmurs or vows of love as to understand where she was. She had been traveling the vale in more depth since leaving her little clan behind, and she intended to travel every part of it.
She heard more voices as she had started to come to a conclusion of her own about her absurdly pink surroundings. The voices were clearer than the others, as she had apparently wandered close to them. The words that stuck out were ‘Forest of Love’. Her paws froze, pink leaves fluttering by her teal paws, holding her golden flecked leg up in a step that had also frozen in motion. Love. Ehhh, perhaps she shouldn’t be here. But then she heard more of the conversation; it was the low voice of a male.
It didn’t take long for Chai to change her resolve, and on a whim she shifted her direction toward the voices and soon coming across two wolves.
“Forest of Love, huh? I was wondering why everything was so pink. What do you think came first, the pink or the love?” She trotted in with a cheerful, ignorant, and humor-filled smile. She glanced at the silky blonde wolf with the long bangs, then to the bear like male. Chai’s fur was thicker, mid length, not as silky as the female’s, but Chai was confident in her own looks, and while the sun was hiding behind the pink leaves, her gold speckled coloring still shimmered in the muted light. And as for size – her purple gaze landed on the male, she was somewhat small compared to normal wolves, and this wolf completely dwarfed her. Her eyes widened a little, looking up at him, and then clearing her throat.
She glanced from one to the other, eyes widened again, but this time in understanding what may be going on in that moment.
“Oh my, I’m not interrupting anything, I hope?” She sat a bit away from the pair, clearly with no intention of leaving unless she got chased off. Her face reflected ignorance; it was the usual way of Chai. It was easier to lead others to believe you had half a brain, instead of full intelligence – it made life easier. She blinked innocently, looking between the two, with a slight shrug that brought her golden shoulder up a little.

Burnice;
Her ears flattened when Kanga had said the forest was the worst because of the pink. Honestly, Burnice didn't like so much pink, maybe if it were less pink she would enjoy it way more. Burnice then nodded a little almost agreeing with Kanga "It's true.. It could be less pink." She sighed a little slightly ashamed to admit it "What does that say about you? Honestly?" Burnice looked up and gazed at Kanga's eyes "It says that-" Burnice was interrupted from another wolf, what? another wolf here at this moment? oh well, Burnice couldn't care less if another wolf was here... maybe.
"Interrupting? Oh no dear, your not interrupting!" Burnice smiled softly at the she wolf. She walked up to the female"My name is Burnice, what's your name?" she slightly tilted her head curiously then her hair landed on her right eye getting in the way again "Ugh," she said with an annoyed voice as she tossed her hair back "This does get annoying.." anyway, Burnice smiled again acting like everything made her happy.
She glanced at Kanga again just simply couldn't help but stare at him "Jeez, he's humongous." Burnice thought then smiled a little at Kanga, she kind of liked large males, they made her feel safe and protected from danger.

Kanga;
Burnice misinterpreted his animosity towards the first just because of the colour. He withheld a smirk and didn’t say anything, keeping his thoughts to himself. It wasn’t the colour. Truly, he could care less. It was the idea of all of it. That some wolves couldn’t find love on their own without having to go to a specific place where it was almost demanded of them. It was all just silly, Kanga thought. But then, Burnice turned and looked him in the eye. She had just started to tell him what it honestly said about him. But then there was a distraction. Kanga turned, his lips flashing his teeth for the barest of moments.
Burnice has been about to say something—probably something he wouldn’t have agreed with—but now he wouldn’t know. However, the new wolf that had come on the scene seemed interesting. She even made Kanga smile when she first asked if she was inteupting, and then sat down. Burnice said that no, she wasn’t, and Kanga nodded. ”Nothing,” He echoed. Burnice then introduced herself, and Kanga turned back to the gold-marked female. ”Oh, the pink came first,” Kanga added, replying to the female’s rhetorical question. ”Wolves saw it and thought that the only answer for a pink forest was to turn it into a funfair of hormones.” He stood and gave his big mane another toss. ”The Barrens could arguably be the Barrens of Love... but it isn’t so aesthetically pleasing.” He winked, and anybody that knew him, and some that didn’t, would easily detect the sarcasm dripping from his words.

Chai;
The female had been in mid sentence when she had come onto the scene, so naturally Chai smiled that both refused to admit that she had indeed interrupted /something/. She had even noticed the male somewhat frustrated about something – but it had been a ghost of an emotion that she hadn’t had time to process it. Chai wasn’t easily irked, but something about being called ‘dear’ had rubbed her the wrong way, but kept an easy set expression. She listened to the cheerful (overly so?) female welcome her by giving away her name and then inviting Chai to do the same. She then proceeded to shake the bangs from her eyes – but what amused her was how quickly she went from happy to being annoyed and then to happy again.
She opened her mouth with a smile to cheerfully play along and introduce herself when the large male started to speak. Her royal purple gaze swished from the female who had trotted closer to her, to the more distant male.
Her pleasant smile grew into an amused grin. He tossed his shaggy mane on his back, and she suddenly felt left out from all the extra fur going around. Burnice with her bangs and the male with his mane… She curled her tail around her sitting form so that it lay in mostly in front of her – ah! Her tail! Chai let it flip up and down a couple of times, almost cat like, as it was probably the part of her with the most flowy fur, and it was covered in the golden freckles and spots.
Chai was still grinning and found herself laughing (not a belly bursting laugh, but a short uncontrollable giggle). She was naturally a happy and go-lucky wolf, but after traveling on her own for so long, it had been a while since she had laughed. It felt good. She had heard rumors of dark wolves, she was glad her current company didn’t fit that bill yet. Her stomach also did a funny flip-flop when he winked – it obviously had been too long since she had been in a pack too.
Once her laugh faded, tongue lolling from her smile, she turned momentarily (and still distracted from the male’s response) to Burnice. “I’m Chai.”
She turned back to the male.
“And here I assumed the love oozed from the first wolves who met here and fell in love.” She smirked, “but I like your theory better.” She had laughed more at the idea of calling the Barrens of Love – especially because she had just been there, so it made his idea even more potent in her mind. "And having just come from the Barrens..." A small laugh turned into a sigh. She cleared her throat.
“So, uh, what conversation did I interrupt upon my arrival?” Subtly admitting that she knew she had interrupted, but smiling ignorantly all the while.

Burnice;
She closed her eyes almost ignoring the two as she gave a (almost) loud scoff again, what? why the scoff? Burnice backed away a little giving distance to Chai. She heard something close by, what was it? Burnice's right ear lifted "Hm?" she turned her head to the direction of the sound, branches were being broken and Burnice couldn't help but to slowly walk to the noise "sniff sniff... An elk?" Burnice stood low and crawled then gave out a soft gasp "Oh my, it is an elk. And a large one..." she gulped and her eyes gleamed again.
Before she would approach the elk, she went up to Kanga "Uh, K-Kanga?" her paw touched his back trying to get his attention "No, I should do this myself!" Burnice thought then walked away from Kanga. Burnice thought more than likely Kanga wouldn't care so she went to hunt the elk herself "I'll leave them alone for a bit... I'm sure they won't mind... wait, I Know they won't mind.." She said quietly to herself but surely one of the wolves would hear her.
Burnice crawled on the floor once again, she stayed quiet and went closer and closer to the elk. This was not the first time she hunted elk but she didn't do it often because she wouldn't want to hurt an animal for no real good reason.
The elk put his head down to the ground to eat some grass, perfect! Burnice saw the opportunity and she ran fast at the elk aiming for it's neck. She gave out a yelp as the elk had kicked on the belly, ouch, she scratched it's neck trying to make the elk weaker and bit the elk neck much harder. Burnice won the battle and she was tired "Oh boy.." she gave out a sigh and shook her long pelt.
Burnice got hit in the belly really hard "Grrr! stupid elk!" she growled "I thought this was the forest of love, not the forest of pain!" instead of using her soft voice her voice was loud and angry, for some reason Burnice started to care less about this forest sight. She sighed and grabbed the elk by its neck dragging it to the middle of Kanga and Chai "I hope you guys are.. hungry..!" she panted and once again her hair got in her way but this time, she didn't move it.
((Just realized this post was mostly about Burnice and the elk! >XD ))

Kanga;
Chai offered a halfway-decent remark about the forest, which brought another grin from Kanga. Perfect. Another soul that thought the entire thing was rather ridiculous. He gave her a deep, knowing, mischievous nod, and then turned expectantly to Burnice when Chai asked what she had intrupted. Yes, Kanga would like to know, too. It wasn’t everyday that he heard explicitly what his actions said about him. But then Burnice scoffed and walked away as if Chai had never said anything. Kanga’s eyes widened slightly as the female came back to try and get his attention but promptly walked away before he could even reply. ”I—What?” He said, meeting Chai’s eyeline as Burnice stalked away again. He watched after her for a few seconds, mystified, then turned slowly to Chai. He could hear Burnice muttering something about the two of them. His wicked grin came back. The Forest of Love hadn’t been such a bad idea after all. ”Well I’m Kanga, by the way,” He said to Chai to fill the awkward void that Burnice had left. By the time she was back, she was huffing and puffing. Kanga’s forehead raised slightly in surprise. He usually had no issues taking mature down elk on his own, but he was a male, and rather huge. He had no idea how Burnice had managed. Perhaps the beast was sick.
In any case she came back so quickly that Kanga was still standing a little dumbfounded. He shook his head when she asked if they were hungry. Kanga was almost always hungry, but the whole situation seemed so random that he wanted to see how it would play out, rather than get distracted. ”So to reiterate, here,” His eyes danced. ”What did Chai interrupt? I was so ready to hear what you had to say.” His tail flicked behind him and he met Chai’s eyes for one more half-moment.

Chai;
She glanced between the two – realizing the female was distracted, having not found his comment amusing like she had. Unease washed over her momentarily, a feeling that she had assessed something wrong. As quickly as the feeling came, Chai let it leave, letting it wash off of her like water sliding over a glossy leaf. Though, in this instance, she wasn’t sure if she was the leaf or the water…
Not only was Burnice distracted, but also she left. Her brows furrowed in confusion as the female suddenly left, and then came back – approaching Kanga as if to get his attention. It was almost humorous the way she paused and changed her mind, all the while the male watching her curiously. It was only almost humorous, because when the female finally left, she left muttering something about the two of them preferring to be alone. Her face suddenly flushed with warmth, and she was glad she had thick fur that covered both her embarrassment and irritation. Chai was pretty easy going, chill – and not easily bothered… but the female was putting her in a slightly awkward predicament, blatantly ignoring her own question. Her deep purple gaze met Kanga’s in confusion, seeing he was also left in the dark at the strange actions of the female. She watched the male watch her leave and a grin spread on his maw as Burnice had muttered to herself about them too. Something about the grin made her insides twist.
“Ehem…” She said, then “Ah, pleasure to meet you Kanga.” As he introduced himself, her smile a little more hesitant, glancing once more in the direction that Burnice had left. Apparently the female was a little bitter that Chai had interrupted…whatever she had interrupted. Her mind rewound, remembering the snippets of conversation she had heard upon her entrance. Something about being in the Forest of Love, but Kanga not feeling the pink it necessary – but here he was, what did that say about him? Blah, Blah – and then Burnice repeated his question and then she had come through the foliage and interrupted the moment. “I think… she was smitten with you.” Chai mused quietly in Burnice's abense, fighting an amused grin from her face. The fact that she left (perhaps feeling left out from what Chai had considered Kanga’s funny joke) after that moment had Chai wondering what had happened earlier in their conversation. She cleared her throat, wondering idly if Burnice would come back… but Chai did not move from the position in which she had originally sat.
She opened her mouth to speak again, when there was rustling in the foliage, and Burnice was back…with an elk in tow? Now she did stand, from shock at the scene before her. “What the-“ She glanced over at Kanga, who was also still feeling the shock of the moment…well, at least she wasn’t alone in that. Her eyes traveled back to the female who stood nearly shaking from exhaustion and not bothering to move the bangs from her face. Chai couldn’t help but just stare, wondering how the wolf had managed to take down an elk by herself, a feat not easily done. She blinked, glancing fleetingly at Kanga who was clearly very interested in what Chai had interrupted earlier (instead of wondering how on earth she had taken down the elk) – then landed her dumbfounded gaze on Burnice, staying uncharacteristically quiet.

Burnice;
Burnice sighed and sat down, she curled her tail around her and looked at both Chai and Kanga as if she didn't want to answer the question "Um.. I.." Burnice gulped "I really don't want to answer.. But if I must. " Burnice cleared her throat before looking at Kanga "Oh now, I merely forgot what she had interrupted! But thats ok, It wouldn't have mattered anyways," she said as she smirked.
She looked down at her feet just to see the elk she had taken down, for such a small wolf Burnice was strong enough to take such a large elk down. "Don't tell me I took this elk down for nothing?" her smirk widen then looked at Chai seeing her confused/shocked look "What is it? Do I have something on my face?" Burnice said as she quickly shook her long pelt. Burnice felt something wet on her claws, once again she looked down and notice some blood "Gasp!" she gasped softly "Elks....Blood...?" Burnice lifted her paw and examined it "Oh no, It is!" she had a worried look but try not to make it noticeable. "I-Uh," her eyes looked at Kanga's "Never mind." Burnice put her paw down as if there was nothing.
Burnice felt a pain in her stomach once again, the elk hit her so hard it might affect her until next morning "Oooh..." her eyes shut tight trying to forget about the pain. "Grrr I hate this... How did I forget? I'm so stupid." quietly saying to herself but obviously not that quiet because both Kanga and Chai can hear what she's saying, Burnice's eyes widen "Oh no, did I say that out loud?! Grr! Darn it! " she gave a soft growl that only Burnice could hear. She looked at the two wolves.
